Okay, here is our X-Men thread...

WARNING: the thread you are about to read most likely contains spoilers from X-Men 3. If you have yet to see this movie and do not wish us to unwittingly spoil it for you, then stop reading here! Because there are SO many plot turns and unexpected things...

With that said... I really liked this movie. I said in an earlier thread that I don't follow the comics and don't really know how they got it wrong, exactly, but I still enjoyed it. It was pretty sad when Professor Xavier died, though. Phoenix was TOTALLY psychotic... the way she killed Scott was so sad! I loved Furball, if that's his mutant name... the blue dude that could have been the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. He was really cool. And Angel was pretty neat too... If I could choose a power, I'd want to have his wings.

His name was Beast, snrk. I havn't seen the third movie yet, but I'm ok with spoilers. I will more probably read it, though Angel did look awesome...my friend said it was quite vioelnt. Nice canon, this--I tend to be fond of Wolverine. :)

When you see it, wait until the end of the credits, there is a crucial scene that you have to see. I can't believe they killed Xavier so early in the movie. Phoenix scared me. Her face rather reminded me of a more pinkish version of Komari Vosa's, all veiny and stuff. The way she totally obliterated people! She would have made such an awesome sith.

She DID remined me of something out of Star Wars, the way her clothes were and everything. I thought her hair was really pretty, though. And i knew Beast's name was something other than Furball, I just didn't know... And I'm SO bummed I didn't see that scene at the end of credits!!!! I'll have to go see it again...

ooohhh ho ho ho!!!! it was the best movie ever!!! I loved it!!!! I was kinda bummed though because Scott died right when I was beginning to like him! I liked to see a more sensitive side in Logan though, I also thought that Storm showed a better side through the strength she showed. I used to think she seemed to weak, but now, she's one of my faves. I loooooved Angel, even though he didn't come in much, I thought he was really cool. I thought it was so sad when he was a kid!!! :*( No kid should ever have to shave their wings off.. that came out a little weird. I liked it how he didn't just get totally estranged and vengeful at his dad after he tried to administer 'the cure' to him. I liked to see someone finally keep loving their parents.
The professor should've died later on in the movie, and I don't think people showed enough emo when he kicked it. They should've been in shock or something.
The bad guys were awesome!!! They just seemed really believable to me. I thought the guy with the big spikes was cool, and that sonic boom girl was neat too. Magneto was a total jerk! He left Mystique even though she saved him! She was my favorite bad person in that movie. If I was a baddy, I think I'd be kinda like her.
Jean!!!! Jean, Jean, Jean, Jean, Jean!!! She was so cool, I thought I'd be disappointed and that she'd join the light-side again, but she didn't! I was so proud! (not that I like people to be insanely bad like that.. it's just a refreshing change.) Logan did us all proud in the end and killed her. I got a little (ok, a lot) sad, but hey. At least it wasn't happily ever after.. far from it. *snrk* I'm gonna give it.. 4 1/2 stars!!! it was super. so yeah:
GO SEE X-MEN III: THE LAST STAND!!!!!

Eeeexactly! I mean, they were a bit, but still. And while Storm's an okay character, in my opinion, I really don't think she and Logan have what it takes to keep the school going...

Must go again. Must see thinger at the end of credits. I heard something about it, and now I have to go see it. X3 I knew it I knew it I knew it.

We'll know for certain that the cure isn't permanently effective if Mystique starts turning blue again. Heh heh. Although I wonder if only the higher-classed mutants might be able to fight back against the injection? I forget what class Magneto was. That last scene was thrilling. He's my favourite character, even if he does have too much of a flair for the dramatic sometimes. Like that helmet of his. Snicker.

Realistically, though...the only MC of the three we saw that most definitely died in the movie was Jean. They had her body and everything, whereas I'm guessing they didn't have Scott's or Xavier's, even though it looked pretty obvious that the professor had been taken to pieces. Ahh, so sad... But it leaves some room for speculation, doesn't it? Just like almost any good movie should...

It was a good film but not in the same league as the first two. Curses to Superman Returns for stealing the director!! But then... Superman deserves a good start...

Anyway, it had loads of great plot ideas - but, I thought, they were trying to accomplish too much in one film. Problems for me were the complete pointlessness of Angel - yes, his relationship with his father and his dilemma were interesting, and they needed some new mutants, but he just seemed to pop up when they wrote themselves into a corner. Need motivation? "Hi, isn't this the LAST SAVE HAVEN FOR MUTANTS WHICH YOU ARE CURRENTLY DEBATING CLOSING?" Need someone to catch someone? Hey, he's even got wings! How handy!

Also - Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut. He was OK in his own way, but.... ergh.

Plus, did anyone notice how it went straight from daylight to pitch darkness in the blink of an eye in the bit with the bridge?

But it was still a worthy installment - and gave me such geek pleasure at certain points I'll probably end up seeing it again.

I will definitely see it again. I just wonder how far they're gonna go with these movies. and if I remember correctly, Magneto was a class 3. I think it's kind of weird that Jean didn't crush him considering how much he was manipulating her..

You know what, I noticed the sudden turn to darkness on the bridge too!!! My friend actually looked at me and asked, "Wasn't it light a few seconds ago?" My best guess was that the sun had been on it's way down and it was sunset, although I don't remember quite correctly. But yeah, that was weird.

I LOVE Angel! Well, besides from the obvious reason, I feel for him that he felt he needed to get rid of his wings for his father to accept him. And that when he was older, he stood up for what he wanted. I'm totally going to see it again.

He was? Didn't that chick...Psylocke? Or was Psylocke the other one? Didn't she say that no one in that room except for Magneto and Pyro exceeded Class 3? (scratches brains) Can't remember exactly. But I was fairly sure.

Anyways. I did go see the post-credits scene. Aaahhh, the thrill. Even though it was all of what, thirty seconds long? And I absolutely love it when movies tie scenes like that in with bits that happen earlier in the movie that are apparently meaningless at the time...

I want him to look like Patrick Stewart... :( The actor has a very reassuring feel about him.

And for stealing an actor!! Seriously, though, it did suffer a bit without Bryan Singer.

Magneto is a class 4. And she kept him around for her own amusement.

Quote:

Psylocke was the chick with purple hair. Well, her hair was streaked purple. Anyways, the other one was - believe it or not - Callisto. They gave her Caliban's power to sense other mutants, it would seem (for those of you who are familiar with the comics).

Yup. Disappointed that they probably won't bring Scott back, even if they do another one... Logan killing Jean rather reminded me of Phoenix: Endsong, where he keeps killing her over and over and over again so the Dark Phoenix will lose its control. Sad that Angel didn't have a bigger part. Wrong that Rogue lost her powers. Colossus should have gotten a bigger role, too. Though the scene where he's carrying an entire television down the hall under one arm brings unlimited amusement. :)

Overall? I like X2 better.

Who's excited about Wolverine? I heard that the script's finished.

'Cept Logan isn't even supposed to kill Jean.... bah. My brother has turned me into a freak who can't happily watch a comic movie when the plot isn't right... *mutters*

That's all I'm going to say. 'Cept that I hart Angel. And that I'm still mad that Gambit didn't make the cut. 'Course, I'll prolly be bitter 'bout that my whole life...

More like someone who's listened to so much comic jargon from other people that it's all been ingrained into my noggin'. My brother has this game... I don't even remember what it's called, something about Apocalypse... but it has all of this X-Men related trivia on it... and I was seriously shocked by how much I knew... so, yeah. I'm rawther geeky....

But you should hear my Spiderman rants. Heh.... but not here. Though those are rather more in-depth and frustrating. As for X-Men, I wasn't ever a huge fan of that particular franchise, (except for Gambit, because he pretty much r0x0rs), so I figure they can screw it up all they like, as long as the leave poor Gambit out of it....
