[glow=purple,2,300]Heyloo there everyone. I've been discussing with an admin about setting up a Narnia RPG. And I was wondering if anyone was interested. Now, there are a couple of things...
1) Kinda want this to be a serious thing. No exploding candies of doom and the like.
2) Kinda redundant to want to be Aslan since he's supposed to represent Jesus.
3) I have no clue as to what a plot should be.
So...I need help people. I need mods and characters galore. So let me know if you're interested...[/glow]

Hmm...did you get any ideas for a major-type crisis that the RPG could start on? I suppose that would depend on when in the timeline you'd like it to be set... Sounds like much fun, and it also sounds as if you're wanting more of a grand-scale game rather than a single thread, I think. It could be set up with a map and character sheets specific to the different kinds of possible species...so on and so forth. The main issue, I think, will be recruiting enough players to keep it going.

I'd be interested, but oinly if the plot doesn't fully revolve around the religious aspects. If it's just going to be a story with magical creatures, animals, kings and queens, etc. I'll definitely try and make up a character.
The plot could be after the white witch is killed and maybe even after the children leave back through the wardrobe narnia after ruling. The animals would have to find new rulers and perhaps something could evolve into a new evil type ruler trying to take over.

Hmm... between TLwWatW and Prince Caspian, maybe... and yes, I suggested a full board, a la SW.
Which was why I told her to make a thread, to see if we could get players.
I don't have that much time, so I might not be able to make a full-time commitment...

[glow=purple,2,300]Silver, I think you're right. To focus soley on the religeous part would kinda be boring. Cuz there are magical creatures and battles and other things we could do. I've never really experienced an RPG, so I have no clue. I think a map would be good. And I think I can recruit a few people. Basic rules definatly apply in this one as far as no killing each other. This means I really want to discourage RPG members from becoming an evil character.
As far as plot, I think a staged kidnapping would be cool. And a few of us search for that person, where Aslan hints at. I dunno, anyone have anymore ideas?[/glow]

Well, if noone in the rp becomes the bad guy, who's the bad guy going to be? How's he going to function?

To have a crisis, one doesn't always need a bad guy to play...they could be up against some other antagonist like nature or society or something. It gets more complicated for things to function well like that in an RPG, though, so I'm thinking we will need a villain with a faction of their own to keep things going. This means the game will probably have to veer from Narnia canon...

1) I support this, because there's no more Star Wars movies, and supporting the Narnia kick might gain us a few members.
2) We have basic RP rules, which include KILLING PEOPLE ALLOWED. Now, with the SW RP it's as simple as cloning your character... and I'm not going to say no killing just because this world has no cloning. We'll be veering from Narnia canon, because RPs aren't ever canon.
3) I think we get a full world for this one anyway. There's no way it can be limited.
4) I like numbers today. I'll be a villain if someone wants. (twisted and evil grin) I know we don't NEED villains, but we're veering from canon and making this a full scale RP, most likely. Agreement with Jandalf. We're going to need a villain faction, something like the Sith... but not. And we're going to have to veer.
So...
We'll need at least three people who'll moderate, about seven people willing to post semi-regularly, preferably more... and we'll need a list of factions, a map, a list of places and their factions, a basic beginning plot, and such. I've made the full scale RPs. It'll be simple enough to modify the SW rules for Narnia... I hope. The rules for conduct will remain the same, anyway. It'll just be that things will change when it comes to weapons, and we can take either Terrans or Narnians...

I should be able to post fairly regularly and I already have an idea for an evil character, but I would need some other evil characters on my side. I have to develop it more, but I'll let you guys know soon.
Let me know if I can do anything.

[glow=purple,2,300]Thanks Silver. I'm not one to play the bad girl. But I'd love to hear your ideas Silver. That goes for everyone else too. Does anyone know how the age difference is between the Pevensies?[/glow]
[glow=orange,2,300]Peter: You definatly just spelt my name wrong[/glow]
[glow=purple,2,300]W: whatever....anyways, I'd really like to try and get a plot going. The better the plot, the more likely people are to get involved.

Ok, I'm in. Bad is good by me, I can be either as needed. Kidnapping is good, but whom to be kidnapped? Something has to revolve on this , like one kingdom kidnapping, say, Lucy, and quietly sending a death threat to her siblings, like "give us the secrets of prospering kingdoms or we'll slit her throat" [random idea, something better will come up] Etc. Since they can't go out and save her, and this needs to be pretty hush hush, because if ppl know Lucy's gone, everyone will go nuts and everything falls apart. So, the Royals send out ppl to cautiously find and rescue her , who, in turn, become the RPers. Sound good? We can have multiple characters, yes? Because I could be both good and bad as needed...

[glow=purple,2,300]OMG!! YAY!! More people!! Awesome. I really like the idea of Lucy being kidnapped. That sounds like an awesome plot.
Sure Edraitheru, sounds good to me. I'll probably be an OC, even though Peter is my co-author.
What else could we have in our plot? And how are we going to get a map? Dearest Unknown, could we be multiple characters or is that not a good idea.
I need to hear people's ideas. I REALLY like yours Doom.[/glow]

I'd like to see one even more location specific, although I fear we'll have to make up places... and I'd also like a rundown of each country... their royals, customs, general appearances. Yup... so on, so forth.
And I have to speak AGAINST the kidnapping plot. First thing, it's bloody hard to find someone who can play the canon characters in character. Even if some of us are quite willing to play baddies. I simply don't want canon characters involved, because the effort in finding people who can play them IC is HARD. I mean, in the SW one... Jandalf plays Obi-Wan, Eisley plays Anakin, I play Count Dooku, and was playing Luke until I traded off to Cy. That's about it. And each one of us posted an INCREDIBLY in depth character sheet to prove our ability to keep their personalities in character. And it's hard to do more than one. They invoke longer posts, more in depth stylizing... and less freedom. RPing is for the sake of freedom, really...
Now, if people can write a few posts up and we can find someone who can play everyone at the ages that this RP would require (it'd make the kids adults), then it wouldn't be so much of an issue to have a few canonial characters in there.
Now, we can be multiple characters. No problem there at all. As long as you can keep up to an alias... you just make a second user name for a second character if working in the full world... and I think we want this to be a full world RP rather than one plot limited.
And that's my second (or whatever) problem with a kidnapping plot. It's very limiting to one plot. It'd be a one thread RP and not worth even having maps for. Really, all it'd involve would be a short character sheet (well, shorter), and one thread. I'd rather see a full world RP, as we've been considering doing a fantasy-based full world for a while.
See, Commander's idea is good. But it'd be limited. We need a couple other plots floating around to keep this going, and this would just be a start-off plot. See, take the SW RPs, again, as an idea. We sort of started them on a semi-galatic crisis, which really was just Shadow attacking the Jedi Temple and trying to kidnap someone. They went off to Myrkr, her alias trained a Sith and then took on a fall-off Jedi. In the meantime, my character ended up going partly balastic because her Padawan went dark, so she ended up with Myth's apprentice (cough), and her other Padawan (Duncariel) went back to the Temple with Cy's character and they ended up meeting up with Obi-Wan...
And so on, so forth. Most of it interwound, but it started from basically the single plot at the Temple.
This would do the same thing, really. We start with the kidnapping, have the evils send a ransom message threatening to reveal her absence/kill her. And this would be where we'd come in on a few different threads and start working towards the common goal, but still splitting outwards...
We've got this semi established, at least.
Now.
I knew the SW land enough to write out faction information, and suchnot. I DON'T know Narnia well enough. I need races, a brief description of their appearance, where they're from. I need factions. I need locations and a rundown of what they look like...
And I can't do that.
If we're making this full scale, we can't work without that sort of basic information. If not, well, we can go without it. If we ARE, I need people to get this information... if a few people will volunteer, I can make a planning board.

(( Me too - I'll post the entire thing in my journal. Very addictive, that tune... Thanks for the Narnia maps, BTW.))
Here's what I understand : You want more subplots. No Canon characters (C.S's originals are off limits). The kidnapping is a basis. If you want a second character, make an alias for each character.
I just suggested Lucy - we can have anybody, even an OC Lord or plot conductive character kidnapped. Then we could play from the kidnapped, kidnappers, resucers, royals/abductee's family. Say that Lucy [/placeholder] got kidnapped by one nasty brother of a ruling family in ... say Carlomen [/placeholder!] So you could have famillial politics there. We also need to figure out why s/he was kidnapped in the first place. Another country or even the giants could be attacking or threatening Narnia, so while the royals deal with that [w/ RPers in their army? more options for play...] some other ppl go off to rescue said abductee. Of course there's politics in the recuse party, like say one doesn't want to go, or is a turn coat and lead them into a trap, or what not..... So there's plenty of options for play. I just threw out the first thing that popped into my head. If you want more plots, give me a few days.
I can get some of the Narnia rundown you want - Carlomen is my speciality. If some ones else can do Archenland, Narnia and Giantville, we'll have this done in no time.
Since I'm going nuts already, I volunteer to be part of the planning board. mistresswolf should be on it, since this is her idea...
