((Family traits... *snickers* We're DOOMED! Oh NO! *wails pathetically*))
"I thank you, milady." Lara'li bowed formally, Jedi habits taking over before she turned to leave the room, standing outside it silently for a moment-- she didn't know whether or not she was suppose to be escorted back to her room, or whether she was free to wander as she chose.
"And you're not dead yet," Ariane muttered. She felt like she was going to pass out, being dragged over the sand. The passage between her own body, and the Jedi Master's had not been easy, or not without a toll on her own mind. She fought to her feet. "I'll thank you to let me walk on my own," she said sharply. "The whole doomed thing may run in my family line, but so does a preference to take care of ourselves."

((*snickers* Yeah...damsel in distress, eh? I might just have to bring Jether in here... *snickers again*))
Jandalf kept a light hold on Ariane's arm until she was sure that the other would be able to keep upright. "If you're sure. I just have no idea how we're going to get back."

Maeg wandered, letting her feet make the decisions and allowing her mind to go its own direction. Old habits kicking in, she pulled off her boots and walked barefoot through the cool grass.
She was so preoccupied by her thoughts that she almost walked right past Lara'li. At the last moment her brain decided to register what her eyes saw.
"Oh, hello," she said to the Jedi. "Almost didn't see you there." She sighed and leaned against a tree trunk, staring at the grass and her feet.
"So the Lady told you about Tiana." It wasn't a question. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I couldn't. You've probably figured out that Shadow and I knew about this before Galadriel told us. I don't know how or why, but we just knew."

((If you dare... *glares viciously* Well, I suppose you'd be the one suffering the consequinces anyway... bringing in my character's boyfriend...))
Ariane shook her head, and brushed her hair back. She dreadfully wished she had some way to keep her hair from springing up around her ears, but she was still water soaked, and nothing could change the fact that she would look it too. She realized she had taken immediate defence on a person who had just saved her life without much reason to either.
"Where's back?" the Melchani woman asked softly. "To your world, mine, or the next?" And on, and on, til the reflection of the times no longer reaches through to a clear point, breaking into a faded reflection that not even the Mirrors can control.
And a second though occured. "And, darn it, what about Tiana?" She was able to think somewhat straight now, though it was a bit discomforting having a near-six foot tall Jedi Master looking down on her.
Lara'li smiled faintly. "Oh, I knew. It was in both of your eyes... it always happens like that, when someone close is cut off. Though why you would get the same sense of Tiana as Shadow... I know not."
The Terran Jedi shrugged, white blond hair slipping over her shoulders in an unconscious attempt to rid herself of the weight of a burden that shouldn't've been there. She acted as one nochalent, and not worrying, but in her heart she was afraid.
"It's all right... I don't really care that you didn't tell me."

Shadow bit down on her lip, wondering suddenly what drove her to remain now that the whole point of the conversation was gone. She gazed around the room, her eyes slipping around objects that few would notice, but one looking for them might.
The rogue elf was silent for a long while, then spoke aloud, her voice oddly human in its tones for a moment. "You had reason to wish me to stay, did you not?" she asked softly. "Or it is unlikely you would've asked."

Jandalf paused for a moment, looking away. "I...I don't even know where Tiana is anymore. Perhaps that's what I meant by 'back'. Not any specific place...just back...to her." She grimaced, partly to hide the deadly worry she felt. Jandalf despised showing much emotion in front of those she didn't know well.
But these circumstances are different, aren't they? No matter who Ariane thinks she is, she'll always be Tiana's mother. Your Padawan's mother. And that's got to count for something.
She let just a hint of her desperation shine through as she looked back down at Ariane. "Do you have any idea where she is?"

"Yes," said the Lady. "I wished to speak with you." She folded her hands and stared off through the trees.
"I shall not waste time with pleasantries. You must destroy the Mirror. Quickly. I had hoped that only the wisest of our world would know of these portals, but I have since Seen otherwise."
She turned back to Almarien and watched her darkly.
"There are some things in this realm that would do anything to try and control the portals. They were ignorant at first, but they grow wiser with each passing sunset. If they were to open the Mirrors and use them, our entire world would be in jeopardy. And I fear that day is not far away. They are trying to find a way to use the portals without the aid of magical relics. If the Mirror continues to exist, I fear the worst for this middle earth."

((ERGH. Computer froze and I lost my entire RPG post))
Lara'li sighed, and ran her fingers through her hair, staring at the reflected light in its silver strands. Frost touched, her mind filled in, and she remembered all too clearly why her hair was silver.
She forced herself out of the memories, and looked over at Maeggaladiel. "I suppose, then," the Terran Jedi said quietly, "that we should return to our... quarters. Unless you had somewhere else to head?"
Ariane shook her head somewhat. "If I knew where Tiana was," she snapped, "I would've told you." Tired, exhausted, and drained of any power from the battle against the seas and anothers mind, she wasn't in a particularly good mood.
She sighed. "We--" referring to both herself and Shadow "--sent her to the Shadow Realm, but she escaped the Passages, somehow. She's no longer within their bounds, but deeper into the Mirrors than any have gone before. I understand your concern, but you're the only one connected to her well enough to be able to make any connection now."
Ariane shook her head. You really don't want to trust her, do you? But it's really your own choice now-- the only chance you've got to get back to reality.
And she saved your life. For that, if nothing else, you owe her your trust.
((The Passages are the weird lands within the Shadow Realm that pass through the other Mirrors, and are used to Pass Through. With the slugs, Master? Remember? They're the weird misty lands. Tiana's into the Mirrors, and the area where Ykrai was was the still land areas, where the sun still shines enough for it to survive as more than a frozen plane. Darn, I have to do a writeup...))

//aww, poor poor Eowyn.//
/don't hurt me!!!//
Shadow bit her lip. She was silent for a long while, gears turning over in her mind as she thought over this new development. At last the rogue elf spoke. "For years," she murmured, "they've tried to find the secrets of the Mirrors, and even managed the Shadow Magicks, but never have they entered the Mirrors themselves. If they were to find a way without using the trinity keys, or conveniance at work..."
She shook her head. "You refer, of course, m'lady, to the Middle-earth Mirror, not the entire chain of them?"
Shadow took a breath, and held it, not knowing what to think now. The Mirror's distruction could destroy the whole of Middle-earth, and of the entire galaxy if done incorrectly, yet the fate of all the worlds was held in its balance as well.
"And how am I to do this task," she whispered, "without destroying myself?"

//Sorry I haven't posted in a while... Busy busy week! Can't talk long; I have a monologue to do in acting class in about half an hour. I'm not blowing you off; I really am in a hurry! But I WANT TO WRIIIIIITE!! *cough* Yeah.//
"I do not know," replied the Lady evenly. "I know you hold little love for this realm and its people, but I ask now for your aid. It is not minor coincidence that you and your company returned to Middle Earth now. It has been Forseen, in parts."
"If they were to find a way to access this Mirror, it is possible that they will learn to use the others, as well. They must be stopped. If not by destroying the Mirror, then by securing it."
She stopped and stared through the trees for a moment, considering something.
"You said you were willing to give your life for Tiana," she began. "I did not doubt you. Now I must ask you something more. Are you willing to risk the lives of others to save this world? Perhaps this is not to be your fight after all..."
------------------------------------
Maeg nodded.
"Yeah, it's not like we've got anything better to do," she said haggardly. "Maybe we'll be able to leave this place soon, huh? I rather hope so." She started back towards their quarters, gesturing for Lara'li to follow.
"Um, I've been wondering," she said after a moment. "When you travel through different worlds, do your Force powers change?"

((
Yeah, I've lost more stuff that way than I care to know...sigh.))
Jandalf closed her eyes. Me, the only one with a connection? I suppose I'd better try and renew that contact, then. "Is her physical self in the Shadow Realms, or even deeper into the Mirrors as well, as you put it?"
[Padawan?] She sent the beacon as far as she could. [Padawan, can you hear me?]

Lara'li paused for a long moment. "To a degree," the young Jedi finally answered. She didn't feel particularly like she could speak on the manners of the Force to another, not ready to attempt to explain things, even if she had been trained well at the Jedi Academy. "You'd find that on Terra-- I mean, a Jedi would--"
She didn't quite understand the hesitation to seperate Maeg from the Jedi, though. Is she a Force-sensitive?
"The Force isn't there. Or on Myrkr. Or here, really. Some places are non-Force-sensitive. But crossing the Mirrors... our core powers remain the same. A Jedi is stronger in different areas, naturally. I'm focused on areas of trickery, really-- Tiana's very skilled with levitation, for example. But what we can do with them changes. Is that what you were looking for?"
She followed after the taller Elf quietly.
"Physical form..." Ariane paused. "She's not physically in the Mirrors any longer. Merely her mind that's captured in a depth there."
A hint of a beacon, a candle, a flame rekindled. But it was weak, and wrong for the area. The confused Tiana paused, and stood up. [Master?]
She forced all her focus on that connection, and on what it could mean, trying to break through the shields that conntinued to be there. [Master, I need you!]

"Oh," said Maeg, somewhat dissapointed. She had hoped to find an answer to her problem. Apparently the travelling didn't affect every type of power, possibly just her own. Once more, she was alone. Sometimes she felt like such a freak. She sighed.
"Yeah, that answers a few things," she lied. Time to change the subject. "Is Shadow still with Galadriel?"

Jandalf grasped the connection firmly, unwilling to allow herself to lose it. [Padawan...stay with me. I'm going to try to get you out of there, okay?]
"Ariane...I can sense her. But it's not enough to know where she is." She hesitated. "If you wouldn't mind making a shot in the dark as to where she would likely be...you know more about this subject than I."

[Master, I need you here!] Tiana protested firmly through the weak connection. A wavering bond... a flame in the wind. Rekindled once...
Lara'li sighed. "I think so." She stared at the elf for a moment. "But you really weren't being direct enough for me to get what you meant by that question."
Ariane shook her head. "She's just not here... there... wherever! A shot in the dark..." She shook her head again, and reached out...
To rebound off of a wall of... something... someone?
Her physical form fell backwards, and crashed into the sand. Stared up at the clouded and rainy skies. "Blue," she mumbled. "And purple." And green?!
"The skies are green," she mumbled. "Green and gray. It's not Yrkia, or the Passages, or on aE'chani'li."

Shadow released a tight breath, and hadn't realized she had been holding it. "I risk no life but my own," she said, tightly. "I have held that bond over others too long, that shadow encompassing me. If I knew another would risk their life for something not their own-- Tiana, for example-- then so be it, but I would not willingly risk them, m'lady."
She took another breath, and carried on. "I may hold little love for this Mirror Realm, or it's people, but I hold a love for the lives of others, and for halting the domino effect of pain set into motion by myself and others too long ago to think upon."

"Well said," replied the Lady approvingly. "But I fear you may have little choice in the matter. 'Twas not mere coincidence that you came here."
She stared down into the silent mirror, the water within it rippling slightly, as though it were breathing.
"I know I have told you that you may stay as long as you like, but I think I shall have to rescind my invitation," she began again. "The dark powers are searching for the entrance to the Mirror, Almarien. And they are using you as a compass. They can sense your presence and are drawn to it, for they know you are linked to the Mirrors."
She touched the surface of the water with a finger. Rings of ripples spread from the center outwards.
"You may have business here, but I ask that you leave as soon as you can. If you are gone, then perhaps they will lose the trail." She looked back at Shadow. "It is too late to keep them from Lothlorien. They have already found you. All we can do is protect the Wood as best we can and keep their foothold away."
"You and Lara'li must leave as quickly as possible," she repeated.

Startled by Ariane's sudden fall, Jandalf stammered, "The...what? Purple and blue and green and aE'chanawhatsit?"
[Padawan, I need to know where you are first, before I can get there! Do you have any idea? Specifically?]
Trying to collect her thoughts, she knelt down beside Ariane and offered her hand for assistance in getting back up.
((Erm, I was wondering...how are you guys still feeling about the idea of having Padawan Jandalf blunder into Lothlorien? Heh...unless it would mess up what's going on too much...))

(That'd be cool! It's okay with me. How bout you two, Shadow and Eowyn?)
"Oh, it was nothing, really," Maeg said. "Hey, I meant to show you something. Check out what wandered my way." She held up the pendant on its chain.

((if you'll have time for it, Master.))
Lara'li smiled suddenly, the light efect of happiness lighting her face. "Then you are one of us," she said softly. She reached out for a moment, then dropped her hand, the dim smile fading into shadows. "But if that is for good or ill, I wonder... faugh."
She sighed. "You do bear Mirror-skills then."
Ariane took Jandalf's hand, and pulled herself upright. "The skies were purple in the Shadow Realm," she said, dryly. "You, of all people, should remember that."
She sighed, and smiled somewhat. "And aE'chani'li means the People's Land. Don't worry, it's nothing. Just... the skies were green."
Brushing sand off of her knees, Ariane stared up at the clouded skies, and the dim rain that still fell.
[I'm... here. And there. And... agh!] Tiana closed her eyes physically, and attempted to focus her thoughts on the direct reply to this to make any sense. [The skies are green, and it's... a tall land, if you know what I mean. It's a broken Mirror, like the Shadow Realm was. And it's ajoined to the Shadow Realm near the Wastéd parts of the Passages through a Mirror shard. But that's all I can get. Enough?]
