"Maeggaladiel?!"
Tiana stopped suddenly, feeling something. Maeg! Maeg!
Gone.
Jandalf?!
Nothing.
ENN?!
She knew she couldn't reach Enn after they had been sundered, but it had been worth a try. The walls of her Shadow Prision seemed to melt-- but the path through led to only one thing, and Tiana froze up. The Shadow Realm lay ahead of her.
She took a deep breath, and plunged through the chilling breath of the Shadows. The last time she had traveled into that realm Shadow had been there as a guide-- this time it was on her own. Tiana took one last look behind her at the now faded PotC world, and let go of that lifeline back.
As always, when she entered it was like dying, in a manner. It tore her away from everything, and ripped at the mental bonds she had built up. I'm not letting go of you, Maeg, she vowed. It had been easy to feel what had happened-- she knew the connection to Jandalf could not be harmed, even if it seemed to disappear, but the connection to Maeg she needed open in the Shadows too.
It was Over. If felt like she had been ripped in half again-- she couldn't sense Jandalf, Shadow, or Lara'li any longer. Looking further, Audreidi was gone, as was Anakin. The Shadows did too good of a job, she thought, looking around for what she knew was there...
"Maeg!"
Tiana forced herself to walk through the rest of the shadows, and over to the elf who was now inside the Realm. She watched in brief horror as the portal closed up, and took a deep breath. "FIND LARA'LI!" she yelled through it, in the hopes Jandalf would hear her before that portal was locked up once more. Then she ran over to Maeg. "Maeg! Maeg! Are you okay?!"

Maeg knew of few words that would fully describe the experience of being pulled into the mirror. Even fewer of those words would have been PG rated.
It felt... wrong. Like she had been turned inside out or pulled from her body.
"Oh Eru," she groaned. Where was she? As she overcame the strange nauseous feelings that spun in her stomach, she was able to look around her. This was not a pirate ship by any stretch of the imagination. A small circle of Carribbean sunlight behind her was quickly fading away to gray nothingness. She had gone through the window into the Shadow Realms.
"Bloody Valar," she whimpered. Her knees felt weak. Trembling, she sat on the ground.
What had happened? One minute she was talking to Ennariel on a pirate ship, and the next she was being sucked into this cold, dark land through the window. Now she was in trouble. How would she escape? How would she find--
"Maeg!"
"Tiana?" she mumbled, recognizing the voice. She sensed Tiana next to her.
"Maeg! Maeg, are you okay?!"
"Okay?" she echoed. "I... I don't know." She ran a hand through her hair. Things kept getting stranger and stranger. She was getting a massive headache.
"Where am I?" she asked groggily. "Am I in the same Shadow Prison as you? How did I get here? Are you all right? I tried to help you, I really did, but I..." She let out a groan and clutched her head. "What the Underworld is happening? I don't understand anything anymore!" She was babbling now, but she couldn't help herself. This was bad. This was very bad.

Tiana shook her head, and knelt beside the dazed elf. "Maeg," she said, urgently, "listen to me. You have to hold on. Entering the Shadow Realm isn't easy... it cuts you off from everything." She stared at Maeggaladiel, her eyes panicked but her voice relatively calm. "You aren't in the Shadow Prision... those do not cut you off. I... pulled out. Into here. This is the Shadow Realm."
The Padawan knew that she'd be babbling, but she also knew the trama that had just happened. Her first journey into the Shadow Realm had been smooth, because she was with Shadow. "This world is tangible, just what comes off of it into our worlds isn't... it becomes a Shadow," she said, trying to explain quickly what was happening. "But because it's so different from our world, when a person from there is pulled in here it often causes trama..." She closed her eyes, reached through the Shadows-- A window in the Force...-- pulled out a haevy cloak, and tossed it to Maeg.
"Listen to me, Maeggaladiel... you have to hold onto your memories of the other world, or you'll be sucked in by the Shadow. You have to use that as an anchor. I'd tell you to use the Force... but I'm not sure if you're Force-sensitive, or whether your powers are something else entirely... but hold on to me. You can't forget about reality or you'll lose it completely."
The Shadow couldn't grab Maeg too! She was like Audreidi-- unmirrored. Hold on, Maeg...
Jandalf! Master, why can't you hear me!
Tiana sank back on her heels. This was really, really bad. Before at least Jandalf back been able to sense her. Am I completely cut off now?

Jandalf's breath caught in her throat. It had all happened so fast, she...
Why didn't Maeg LISTEN to me? I told her not to touch the mirror!!
Well, maybe it was more of a suggestion than an actual instruction. But STILL...
Then an idea struck, a wonderful Idea. It was so sudden it seemed wonderful, anyhow, and Jandalf was determined to try it.
She touched the sides of the window pane with her fingertips once again, feeling the power channel through her arms, and into her very core. "Ennariel...I'm not sure what's going to happen, but whatever does, don't touch me. You could get pulled into something...bad, and I don't want that to happen." She focused in on what lay beyond the pane, and started to feel some flickering...some connection.
Padawan?

((Must teach you about that Shadow Magic. Sheesh... you're nto doing too bad with adlibing it, at least. By the way, I forgot to warn you but I've PMed Maeg, so that's what we decided would happen... t'was inevitable. This is a short post, but I had to reply to Jandalf here...))
Tiana closed her eyes, feeling... torn. "The exact way I felt when the bond was cut," she murmured in Elvish. "When I found out who Elachi was... who Ariane was..."
I can't let that connection be broken again.
Not even for Maeg?
...I don't know what this connection to Maeg is all about, but I hope she can hold it, or she'll fall into the Shadows.
Tiana fidgeted with a green pendant that she wore on a silver chain, trying to find the old light it had once worn. Trying to find an old connection, and a connection that shouldn't've been torn...
...torn...
...broken worlds, shadows everywhere, must not fall...
...always there, always fading...
...broken in half, or yet more...
...where are you hiding...
Tiana jerked slightly, and forced herself back into her mind. Where are you... There was the flicker of a connection, and Tiana grabbed it. Even if it wasn't through the Force it was enough. Master? Jandalf? Master, can you hear me? she sent through the Shadows, trying to get through to where the Force was now blocking her.

Ennariel skoffed. "you forget who I am," she said dryly. She hadn't expected Maeg to be pulled in by the shadows, but then there was a lot she hadn't expected over the last while. "I wouldn't be pulled in, you know... i don't have that connection."
Nevertheless, the girl of the between worlds sat back, and tucked her mirror back into her pocket. I wonder what happened to my Jandalf? she thought, curiously. I wonder where Shadow went...where Tiana is...
It confused her, the complete lack of connection to the Padawan... normally she was able to sense Tiana if nothing else. She stared at Jandalf and realized one thing: she had a bad feeling about this.
******************************************
"I told you the truth," Shadow insisted, sitting down. She knew she couldn't fight Lara'li again, and figured that any attacks were better taken while sitting back. "All I know is that there's a new mirror-- but it's not new. It's the Middle-earth mirror..."
The "Sith" shook her head, and tucked her hair back behind her ears. "I don't withhold information when there's reason to tell it-- I'm here because I need Lara'li's help. Mayhaps even yours, Jethine... though I hate to ask it." She shivvered.
...where are you hiding...?
...you're here...
...you sense us, strange one...
...let go...
Shadow winced, and grabbed her head in both hands. "Agh..." She closed her eyes, and mind against the pain, but was unable to drive it out.
...follow...
...torn apart bond...
...come with us...
...don't let go of light...
...shadows following...
...will be broken...
She forced herself to speak through the blinding pain of the voices speaking in her mind. "The Terran mirror will be destoryed soon-- the mirror we're in," she hissed through pain. "We have to find the Middle-earth mirror."
//what happens when Tiana and I are bored... weird plots. heh.//

Maeg gave Tiana an odd look.
"Are you all right?" she asked. Then she felt it. Oh no.
"Orcspawn," she cursed bitterly. "There IS something wrong."
Something told her that things were getting worse and worse by the minute. It was a dark, ominous feeling, tinged with a hint of... familiarity?
"Oh no," she moaned. "Tiana, I can sense it. There's something.. middle-earthish here, and it's not just me." Maeg sighed as she realized how stupid she would sound to a human.
"Okay," she sighed, more to herself than anyone in particular. "Let me try to explain this... no, that would be rather difficult, so let me try to relate this to something else. As I understand it, this Force is a great intangible thing that is all around you, created by living beings and weilded by those sensitive to it, yes?"
Without waiting for an answer, she continued. It felt good to talk about something she knew; it helped keep the shadows and bitter cold out of her mind and body.
"Well, my people and the world of Middle Earth are not much different. You see, our land has a type of magic to it; a Force of its own, if you will. Men use this power, they live on the earth and can weild its magic, much like you weild the Force. We elves, however, are more than just its weilders; we are a part of it. It lives in us and is part of us. We can, for lack of better words, sense certain things. This ability varies by the person, but we all have it to some degree. I'm not certain about the strength of Shadow's connection; obviously she's travelled to different lands and has learned many skills that cannot be taught in Middle Earth. She may have burned many bridges and severed many ties to become a Sith; I really don't know.
"But now I'm getting off subject. What I wanted to explain was that sometimes we just KNOW where we should be, or what we should be doing, even if it goes against our logic. More often than not we don't know WHY we must act, but something makes us do it. That's why I touched the window; something told me I had to go through.
"I suppose that because I'm in this shadow realm, an "in between" place, if I understand correctly, I can sense the presence of my own world. That's what frightens me: My world shouldn't HAVE a mirror, should it? But I can feel something that definately isn't from either this Shadow Realm or the Carribbean."
She stopped in her tracks, looking worried. When she spoke again, her voice was almost a whisper, nearly lost in the swirling shadows.
"I don't know why I need to be here," she said. "But I do not think it will end well."

Tiana nodded, her expression distant as she bent her focus on relocating her training bond to Jandalf. "Yeah, it's a between realm," she said, dryly. "All the worlds connect here... and it's not the Carribean Mirror, it's actually the Terran Mirror, just in an earlier time," she commented. "I know what you mean... but yet, Middle-earth has always existed, just out of the Shadow."
The Padawan broke her half-connection to Jandalf, and looked across at the Elf. "My Master found Middle-earth once, a long time ago," she said, softly. "Until I met you, I didn't really believe it existed, you know..."
Her eyes suddenly changed, and she jumped to her feet. "Shadow!" she said harshly, her voice sounding like she hadn't seen water in a year. "You speak of Shadow as if she was Middle-earthian, Maeg... she can't be... she's..." Tiana shrugged faintly. "I don't know what she is. Her ties to me were shattered a long time ago, actually... but something-- or someone-- reopened them." Tiana sat back down, and tucked her feet underneath her. "You can pass through the realm, Maeg," she murmured, "but I can't. There's not much to fear in the Shadows, once you get past the pressing darkness... all you have to worry about is the parisite things, and they shrivel up when you put a bit of salt on them.." A faint smile touched her face. "I can't help you anymore, Maeg... but you need to get out of here before the connection to Middle-earth is finished."
Then it happened. It was like a cold finger touching her heart, and reaching through to her very soul. Tiana shuddered, and attempted to jump back up. No... her mind cried out. "Terra," she murmured, attempting to find something through the lack of the Force she had. No... Ariane... you're... dead...
Her eyes glazed over, and Tiana slipped to her knees, grasping at the shadows which offered no support beyond to plung her into blackness, and nothing beyond shadow. Gone.

Alarmed, Maeg grabbed Tiana's arm as the Padawan fell to the shadowy ground.
"Tiana!" cried Maeg. What was wrong with her? Maeg shook her, but she did not respond.
"Well," Maeg said to no one in particular. "There's no way I will leave you alone here. I don't care if you can't travel through the Realms; I'm not going to abandon you. I came here to help you, and I won't leave until I've helped you."
Maeg's delicate ears picked up something to her left, shrouded in shadow. She stiffened. Voices.
One she recognised as Shadow's. The other sounded slightly like an older Jandalf, and a third sounded unfamiliar.
She had three choices: One, she could leave Tiana and search for an exit. Not bloody likely. Two, she could take Tiana with her into an unknown realm. Possible, but she didn't like knowing that she could do little to help Tiana. Thirdly, she could follow the voices and hope that they could help her. Hmm. Decisions.
Feeling rather akward but knowing she had little choice, she eased Tiana's fallen form into her arms. She wasn't as heavy as Maeg expected, almost as though she was half-made of shadow. Maybe another effect of being within the Shadow Realms.
"Ready or not," Maeg said. "Here we come." She walked through the swirling dark mists towards the mysterious voices.

((*is impressed* Maeg... you're good. *coughs* I'd swear... heh. Off topic, but you will find that Lara'li is familiar once you get to know her, because she's one of Tiana's mirrors...well... actually... snrk.))
Nothing....
I don't have anything to grasp at.
Tiana struggled with the sudden blackness that surrounded her, and felt almost... torn in half. As if she had been yanked out of the shadows, and pulled into some half form. A form where the Force didn't exist, but neither did the shadows she'd grown to almost depend on.
She grabbed at the nothingness, though, embracing it, and accepting it as an existance-- without it, she'd be completely gone, even if it wasn't much to depend on. No training bond... not even the smidgon of a connection you had to Maeg, so the best you have to do is survive on that nothingness.
But what can you survive on when there's nothing you can use to break through?
Well, we'll just have to see about that.
But she did wish she knew what was going on in the phyisical realms. For all the power she now had in there, she could've been dead, or worse.
Nothing to use to break through...
It was Lara'li who first noticed the newcomer step in, as if through a wall-- as if she had morphed into the room. She took a closer look-- nearsighted, she couldn't really make out the face across the room, but she had the faintest feeling...
She looked at the mirror. Then back at the newcomer.
The exact same feeling...
...you can't leave...
...shadows...
...always coming...
She feels... Middle-earthian... Lara'li shoved her other thoughts aside at the familiar form. "Tiana!" Half-panic swept through her, and her voice. She abandoned all protacial (sp?) and dashed across the room; dropping her lightsaber as she went. Her mind filled in for her: An elf...
So... we test that theory... "Milady elf," she greeted, in Sindarian, "by the Valar, who are you?! And what are you doing with Tiana?"

Maeg stared in suprise at the woman who had approached her. She looked... no, not necessarily looked, but felt like.... Tiana?
The human suprised her once more as she spoke to her in Sindarian. So, thought Maeg. She knew of Middle Earth.
"My name is Maeggaladiel of the Four Eyes," she replied in the Common Tongue. "I am a friend of Tiana's and a traveller from Rivendell."
She shifted Tiana in her arms. Even though she was light, her arms were beginning to go numb. The Shadow Realms were weird.
"If you are a friend of Tiana's, I beg that you help me," Maeg said, trying to gently lay Tiana down before she dropped her. "I don't know what is wrong with her. She just said 'Terra' and fainted away." She turned back to the woman, peering at her strangely over the rims of her glasses.
"If you are an enemy, I will give you five seconds to escape with your life. The choice is yours." She took a step in front of Tiana's still form, trying to look as imposing as a bespectacled twig with numbed fingers could look.

((*nods* Lara'li doesn't look like Tiana...besides her eyes, but she does feel the same.))
Lara'li smiled faintly, and raised her hands. "I have little doubt you could harm me," she said, dryly, changing into Basic, "though I do not wish to test that theory. Friend of Tiana's..." A smile crossed her face. "Well, that remains to be seen, but I am an Elf-friend, and enemy of the Shadows. If that means anything to you, Maeggaladiel of the Four-eyes.
"I would assume that you do not know what happened to her then..." Terra... then fainted away.
The only person who could've caused such a reaction... with... well, any of us... In her mind, she ticked off the names. Jandalf... but she's Tiana's Master, and not likely to do such. Jethine... but I would've sensed her doing such. Myself... and I know I did not, nor would I do such. Ennariel... but again, I doubt she would've. And... Her thoughts froze. And Ariane... but she's dead. I seen her die myself.
Impossible... or is it?
Lara'li stared across at Maeggaladiel, the short scientist's thoughts growing gradually grimmer, and darker. "I am a friend of Tiana's," she said, at last. "Though we have been enemies in the past. And if you are any friend of Tiana's-- which I assume you are, being as you stand in front of her as a guardian, near to the point of a Master to her Padawan-- I plead with you to trust me."
Still dark... still nothing. But by embracing that darkness, there was something more there that seemed to add to the nothingness, and make it more whole.
Which was impossible, seeing as it was nothing but that. Nothing.
But I'm here... so that means there isn't quite nothing, Tiana reminded herself. And I get the feeling that I'm not the only one here...
She spoke out loud, her voice seeming strange in the unending darkness. "Ariane," she said. It echoed. "I know you're here, mom."

Maeg nodded slowly, staring thoughtfully at the woman.
"I trust you, Friend of Tiana's." she said. "Perhaps you can help me. Before she... fainted.. or whatever... Tiana asked me to find someone named Lara'li. I don't know what part she is supposed to play in this, but if Tiana thought she was important, then I can only follow her suggestion and find her. Maybe she'll know how to help."
She turned her gaze back down to Tiana. She looked almost dead; an unnerving thought that Maeg forcefully shoved to the back of her mind. Tiana couldn't die.
"I don't know what happened to her," Maeg continued, nodding towards Tiana. "But I'm getting used to not knowing what's going on."

((Well... Jandalf, you remember the whole Shadow thing, right? Back on Dagobah, and then later on on Yavin IV? Maybe you could just do something like that-- turn yourself into Shadow *coughYOUREMEMBERHOWTHATWORKED,RIGHT?cough*, and then, because you'd be Shadow, she'd write your posts because she was you... and when you wanted to return, you could go all-powerful Master on her... and POOF! No more Shadow!))
Lara'li's expression was suddenly altered completely-- she nearly looked like a different girl. A girl who looked almost exactly like Tiana for one moment, bar the silver hair and odd clothing.
Then it was gone. But the sudden half-fear in her eyes remained there. She looked down at Tiana, who looked nearly dead, and sighed. "I accept your trust as being more than a mere word, Maeggaladiel of the Four-eyes..." She bowed her head, one hand over the necklace she wore, "and you have my trust now, as a friend... of Tiana's." She said the last part as almost an afterthought though.
And sighed once more. "I'm Lara'li," she said, slowly. "Lara'li Christiana Elass. If the name means anything to you, it will explain why... Tiana... said to find me." Her voice was harsh and dark. "I know what's happened to her-- it's happened before. Last time, she nearly died." Lara'li took her necklace off and handed it to Maeggaladiel, knowing the gesture would seem strange, but it had meaning.
She knelt beside the unconscious Jedi, and placed one hand on her forehead. "She's still here," she said, weakly. "Before I attempt anything, I must ask this of you, Maeg... how much do you know of the Shadow?" She lowered her head, staring at Tiana's oddly peaceful face. "Ask questions-- I will explain-- but be quick. We may not have much time." Ariane.

Maeggaladiel's forehead furrowed in thought. So this was Lara'li. She had found her after all.
The short woman seemed very much like Tiana in manner, if not in appearance. Perhaps Lara'li was to Tiana what Ennariel was to Shadow.
Speaking of Shadow, whatever had happened to her? She had dissappeared suddenly after Jandalf's return, although to what world or dimension Maeg did not know. And who exactly was she? She had seemed elven, but Tiana had hinted that she was not from Middle Earth. Did the fey folk dwell in worlds other than Arda? So many questions, so little time.
Maeg looked down in confusion at the necklace that Lara'li had shoved into her hand. What was that for? A token of trust, perhaps, or maybe it held some magical property?
"Thank you," she offered lamely, for lack of other words. The human seemed frightened of something, and she was obviously offering her the necklace for a reason. Protection, perhaps? Some danger known to everyone but herself lurked within this cold realm. This thought did little to calm Maeg's tattered nerves. If she ever returned home, she was going to take a very long vacation.
"I know very little about the Shadows," she continued, fingering the necklace worriedly. "Only that this place is some sort of realm that exists between worlds, worlds that can be accessed through a sort of mirror-portal. Since this is in-between, it is somewhat unstable. Rules that govern our worlds, such as laws of gravity and matter, may not always apply here. We're in the middle: things neither exist nor cease to exist. Shadow the 'Elf' is a bit harder to define; She's somehow connected to Ennariel, but she can jump from body to body. She also has a thing against Tiana. It's hard to explain, but I think I understand."
"What I don't understand is how all of you fit into this. I know that you're all related; you're basically the same person from different worlds. But why is this happening to Tiana? WHAT is happening to Tiana? And I know that you and Tiana share the name Elass," How do I know that? "But I'm afraid that the knowledge doesn't give me any insight into why Tiana wanted your help."
As she spoke, a sensation like a warm touch caressed her mind. An image, first blurred but growing slowly clearer, forced itself into her mind's eye. Intense blue eyes, staring at her.
We feel your presence... a woman's voice whispered. Be strong, mellon. Do not fall into Shadow. My power... is not strong in your realm. Find your path. You still have a part to play, be it for good or ill.
Maeg started. So there WAS a Middle Earth mirror. And it was close. Close enough for the Lady to mentally find her. Just what she needed: another voice in her head.

Lara'li looked up from where she knelt beside a near-dead seeming Tiana. "So... Tiana... didn't explain everything," she mused. "She never told Jandalf until the end either..." She brushed Tiana's hair back, and sighed faintly. "You think we're still in the Shadow Realm," she said, an humorless smile on her face. "We're no longer in that in between world, Maeg-- welcome to Terra." She stood up. "My Realm... the realm that truely connects all. Also, the Realm about to collapse."
She half-hated to stand, to face this elf, and leave Tiana, but it seemed more... right to be on her feet for this. "You want an explanation about... my existance? About what happened to Tiana-- about who Shadow is?" A half-smile. "And why this is happening...? I can't explain everything... but I'll try."
Lara'li closed her eyes, and sank back down beside Tiana as her feet refused to support her. The realization was there-- Tiana could die. And very quickly and easily too. "I suppose it's easiest to explain this-- I am Tiana, and more her than she is, in a way." Lara'li continued on quickly, not giving Maeg a chance to inject any comments, even if she had wanted to. "She sent you after me because she knew she'd be near-death soon, and unlike her mirrors, I can help her. Shadow was... a mirror. In a manner. But her mirror cracked, and she became a twisted reflection, not evil, but not good either. You have to understand, she's... Shadow. I know she's elven... but nothing more. She's... Shadow.
"I'm connected into this merely because of who I am to Tiana-- who I am to Ariane... just... who I was born to be. Though I'm no Jedi, true, I still... have powers.
"As for what's happening to Tiana..." Lara'li sighed hard. "I have little clue as to what, or why fate always chooses her." The short human suddenly had the feeling that if she was to look in a mirror, her eyes would've been shiny with tears. She choked them back to continue flatly. "You understand much, for what you've seen. You must have some part, whether for good or ill in this realm." She placed her hand back on Tiana's head, and reached out with what little Force-powers she had to use.
And Tiana wasn't there.
I'll never have the same connection to her as she does to Jandalf... why do I feel that I've lost her?
It was no longer nothing. Tiana stood up, facing the shadows. "I told you, mom, I know you are here. Show yourself."
So Ariane did. Stepping out from nothing, into the strange something that was there. "Good morning, Lara'li," she said smoothly.
"I no longer answer to that name." Tiana's eyes were dark. "And you knew that." She could see Ariane, yet it was completely dark.
"Very well, Padawan." A sly smile echoed across her face.
Tiana fought the instinct that made her want to lash out in anger there. "Only my Master gets away with calling me that," she hissed through clenched teeth.
"But she's not here, is she? And you can't find her... can you?"
The grim smile on her face was only to hide a complete grief at the possiblilty. "You don't know I can't."
"But I can, Tiana." Her smile was less than cheery. "Because you have no training connections... you've been cut from the web. No Master, no Padawan."
Once a Padawan...
And Tiana made no reply.
