"I was merely referring to a disguise for your physical appearance if you're worried about any encounters with public," he explained mildly. "And I suppose before we go anywhere, we should decide exactly what it is we're looking for. Your ship, or a community?"
Or someone long hidden within? he thought to himself.

"Worried?" She snorted, her tone saying it all-- if she was worried about being exposed, she wouldn't be standing here talking to him still. She'd be dead.
Shadow paused for a moment, then pushed her hood most of the way back. He knew her face and name, so it mattered little-- not when she'd lost her addenity secrect-- that her face showed. It would be easier to see without it in her eyes, if nothing else.
When she finished speaking, her tone was a tad softer. "Preferred my ship-- I still hold to that promise, Master Jedi-- though a community would serve as well. Though, I fear that you.. being Jedi..." She shrugged helplessly. "The Sith have made alliances with the smugglers... not in the truest form, but we don't kill each other. But for a Jedi... it would be different. They fear you-- as much as the Sith do. Your life would be in danger."
And yet I wonder if he referred to something more that my ship, or a comminuty.

((Tsk, tsk, Shadow. Look how LATE you were up. *grins*))
The logic of this was irrefutable. Elachi knew many smuggler groups preferred a base on Myrkr for the sole reason of getting away from the pesky intrusions of the Jedi. Now that one was here, anyway...it was cause enough for some to enter into a moderate state of panic, and panicked enemies were sometimes less efficient, but always more dangerous.
"You're right," he said at last. "Then our two options of search remain. To find your ship, I fear, would take a fairly indefinite amount of time. Communities are larger, and would offer more protection from the wildlife here. Also, I don't doubt we could find some sort of sensor to locate your ship's incongruity from the forest. I've heard the trees here have an uncommonly high metal saturation, so results would be hazed at best, but it's a better shot than trying to stumble upon the ship at random chance."
He took an introspective look at her face. "True, I'd be endangered if I appeared in a community as a Jedi. However...I don't necessarily have to. I've a simple tunic and trousers under these robes--it would merely be a matter of temporarily forsaking them as well as my lightsaber for the sake of disguise. What my role would be in such a situation is entirely up to you, of course. But I have reason to believe it's our best chance."
There's more beneath that front she puts up, he thought. There are flickers here and there of her former self.
The question remains: what does she truly want, in that case?

//[mutters]It wasn't *that* late. I've been up later. Save your lectures for your padawan... [knowing grin]//
Shadow chewed on her lower lip thoughfully. The idea was logical, and it seemed more possible than locating her ship in the density of the nearly untraversable forest. She shook her head. "I wouldn't ask you to go unarmed in a siduation that would put you in this sort of danger."
The "sith" took a searching glance at his face. And even for that to work, he'd have to trust me. Trust that I wouldn't betray him.
I don't have reason to, but he wouldn't know that.
It was in her mind... she tried to shake it away, but the thought was still there. "The smugglers don't mind Sith," she said, slowly. "The lowlifes here... we've made enough of a truce with them they'll ignore us, because we're powerless here." Shadow hated to continue, but orced herself to. "For what you suggest to work, you'd have to trust me... and I can't ask that. Ever. You'd be completely unarmed, besides whatever you can do without the Force or your lightsaber. But... you look enough like a sith, you could pass as one. It'd merely be a matter of playing a part."
What does he see in me-- what does he think of me, I wonder?
What will happen once we get off this planet, and back into the Force? I can say one thing in favor of this Force-forsaken planet-- at least he can't read my emotions, or attempt to read my mind here.
Do I care?
I darn well don't know.

((*only grins*))
He shoved his hands deep into their opposite sleeves for a moment of thought, then looked straight into her eyes. "Then I will go in disguise. What chance I have at life might have left me a day or two ago, already. There is little else I can do with any hope of returning to civilisation alive and wholly intact, at any rate."
Elachi did have to steel himself—he naturally did not take to having to trust a being who went against the every ideals of the Order. But that didn't mean he couldn't make himself appear to, at least. He reached underneath his robe and unclipped his lightsaber, holding it out loosely in his hand crossways so it neither pointed to him nor her; a suggestion contained within a symbol.

"And you think you'll be intact, attempting to go without a weapon into a den of kath hounds?" Shadow asked, sharply. She shook her head. "Keep your weapon on hand, at least til we near a community-- if I have to take it, it willn't be until I have to." She crossed her arms, not quite certain how to speak her thoughts. He had given her back her weapon, and not skewered her in her sleep-- even now left her alive and well, after betraying the Jedi, to a degree.
But that didn't mean she could trust him, yet-- and she wasn't going to make him trust her.
There has to be a middle ground. He can't trust me anymore than I him-- though I know him to be trustworthy, I cannot trust a jedi. And he cannot trust me, for he doesn't know my heart anymore than I his.
Yet to risk handing me his lightsaber, here-- at least he has some level of trust, seemingly.
"There has to be a middle ground," she said at last. "Could you attempt to play a Dark Jedi?"

He worked his jaw for a moment. "Yes. I could. But middle ground is stagnancy. One of us is going to have to push this, er..." He glanced at her to make certain of the look on her face. "...trust issue a little farther than the other, or we'll get nowhere."
I wonder how she'll take that. At least, I believe that's what she's been focusing her worry on—trust. I wonder why a Sith, of all people, should be so distraught about it. Interesting.

Shadow bit her lip, uncertain of a reply that would make her seem mature at all. The silence was uneasy for the moment. Then she sighed, and conceeded the point. "And I suppose that person has to be you, because I'm the only one with any contacts here, if so they would could." She sighed again, and dampened her lips, which had grown strangely dry. "Then..."
She winced visibly. "Then I hope you're very good at adlibing a part," she finished.
And what part will he end up playing, I wonder. I hate to have to force this level of trust, for what I am, and who I was... but... what I may be forced to do at this rate...
By doing this I'm trusting him as much as he is me, and he knows it. Trusting that he won't run, and attempt contact with the Jedi, and betray me. Trusting that he won't attempt to kill me unarmed. Which way is this going?

Elachi drew himself up for a moment, partly for her reassurance and partly for his own. "I headed a theatrical group of a number of Padawans when I was one myself. If it's slipping into character you're worried about, you need not be. What role should I assume, in this case?"

"I have no doubt on your acting skills, more the part you may have to assume," Shadow said, flatly. She hated taking control like this, and hated to throw this part at him, but it was the only obvious thing she could see to do.
The "sith" took a deep breath. "I'm known here as a sith, and... the mannerisms are known well-- ruthless, yet still desiring to have control over others. I wouldn't just happen to have a companion with me who was not of..." she hesitated, and finally continued, "of my order. If I am asked, whether by smuggler, or possible other dark jedi, I will have to aclaim you as a slave." She winced, visibly. "Though outlawed by the Republic, it still existed."

((...Haven't you thawed out by now? *snickers* Oh, well...it's still amusing. Heehee.))
"A slave," he mused, seeing the truth in her words. "Yes...you're right. That would be the most likely scenario, in any case."
Ready for anything, remember? he told himself, and offered up his lightsaber once more.

Shadow released a pent-up breath, sighed. He didn't skewer me for that, so I may live to see another day, if he isn't recognized as a Jedi first.
She reached out, and took his lightsaber, though hesitantly. "Most likely," she said, dryly, "but if you are recognized as a Jedi, I'd prefer you return to your role as Jedi Master, and take your weapon back. I'd..." Shadow paused. "If we were attacked, I'd rather have an armed ally."

//AKKK... worse than Elachi in bear slippers.//
Shadow took his robe thoughtlessly, and nodded, somewhat distracted for the moment. "Probably. You'd be able to mend them once we're off planet, I suppose. But you still look too clean to be a slave... too..." She wrinkled her nose, and picked up a handful of dust. "Your hands, for example-- no grit drove under your nails. While you worry about your hems, make yourself look dirtier too."
She almost found it amusing to carry this much weight at the moment, considering he was a ranked Jedi Master.

((*snickers nastily* Yessss, the bear slippers...))
Elachi glanced down at his hands, then back up at her, amused. "One's cleanliness would have a great deal to do with what type of slave one is, certainly."
Taking out his small knife, he began cutting small jagged strips off the hems of his trousers and tunic, picking at the weave with his fingers and giving it an old, frayed look. He then knelt down and scraped off some of the topsoil, getting at the slightly moist loam underneath, and rubbed a bit on his clothing as well as his hands. "Anything else you have to recommend?"

"Yes. While you're at it, stop thinking about types of slaves. If there's others I know here..." She growled all this between clenched teeth. "They'd know that I wouldn't keep a slave for THOSE sort of purposes. However, having a nice young man to clean up my ship, and to let me beat on him when I'm in a bad mood."
Shadow allowed a inclement smile, her tone completely more vicious than it had been a moment ago with the slip into character.

"Hm." Elachi raised an eyebrow. "Most owners prefer young boys. I've been on enough missions to observe that. Very well, I suppose a sort of lackey-slave will serve our purposes nicely enough." He raised an eyebrow. "And if a situation demands any physical violence on your part, I'll bear it. You needn't worry about that."

//Ariane would strangle you. Or Elachi. Besides, you're on Coruscant now...//
Shadow gave an innocent smile. "I'm not normal," she said as an easy statement. "Never. Or I wouldn't be here, Jedi." A complete slip into the sith was easy to manage-- though a half of her fought it completely, and she didn't know why.
...I have a son...
"Or should I say, slave?" She glanced over him as if trying to read his mind for a second, and spoke evenly. "Boska. Soong peetch alay now."
