"The bible wasn't written by God, it was written by people, people who claim God spoke to them. Some aren't even inspired by God's talking to anyone, just accounts of the life of Jesus."
Ummm..."claimed" is the wrong word, first of all. Also, who said there was actually a voice? I said inspired by the Holy Spirit...meaning every word was God's, but not meaning that men didn't write them down.
Also, you're right. We're not gonna convince each other, and this thread has gone way off topic. I second the move to another board...but, honestly, I feel like I'm being attacked by both camps at this point. I have done my best, and hey, I'll pray for all of you. ; )

Yeah, unfortunately my appearance here has obviously caused some sort of disturbance or something. I've noticed people tend to just avoid this thread altogether. Same with the questions thread.

I'm not avoiding, obviously. And don't think you fool us: you like being avoided. You like being "strange". ; )

I'm still here, just busy.
JoA, the way you are feeling is the way I usually feel in debates like this, because not many share in my views and not many have the guts enough to voice them if they do. I know exactly how you feel and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way sometimes. (not being mean, but I feel like I am ALWAYS being argued against)
I started a new thread for different beliefs. SHould be some interesting discussion there. Come join us :-).

I will, thank you!
Yah, never feel alone, Silv. We have completely different beliefs in a lot of areas, but we have the same emotions. Among evangelicals, the beliefs of my "denomination" (it's not really, but I can't find a word right now) would often be considered extreme. But then, even within that tiny circle, there are people who think my family is either way left or way right... You'd think we could all just get along, but not so all of the time. It's a lot of pressure, but, honestly, it's only to be expected: if you really believe something strongly, you want others to believe it, too. 'Tis the way it works. I'm rambling...the point is, I know how you feel...truly...

*feels lost*
I leave for one day... ah, well. 'tis certainly for the best. Heh.
If it's not to be seen, how do you know it exists. Do try not to contradict yourself with what you say, dear Faust. And, as you've said yourself, people make mistakes. We're human, but God forgives us. Have you any idea how many wives Solomon had? And a whole harem who weren't even wives.
Yes, the Bible may have been compiled after the Greeks, but what it speaks about, the different nations and stuff in the Old Testament, are hundreds of years before the Greeks.
