Unless the teacher has no answerbook or doesn't know the answer. Muslim people think Christians are wrong, Buddists think so too, just because people say its right that doesn't make it so. We'll only find out the truth when we die.
Now wasn't this thread on Original Sin? Lets get back to that eh? ((Gently pushes others to original topic ;D)) If anyone wants to continue this topic someone can make a new thread.

"just because people say its right that doesn't make it so." just because God says it's right makes it true, and if people go by what God says, then it must be true.

Think about it, Silver. What CJ's saying is that God's Words are truth. If we follow them, then what we say and believe will be truth, although certainly not absolute truth--the human race has a way of misinterpreting truth that's truly astounding...

I'm in complete agreement with the above comment. Astounding, no joke.
Even if the teacher claims that 2 + 2 = 17, does that change the fact that 2 + 2 = 4?
Anyway. Tackling of original topic commencing.
It seems to me that sin largely derives from negative obsession of one sort or another. Lies might be derived from the obsession of keeping one's reputation; stealing might be derived from the obsession of a material thing, while lacking the money to actually purchase it; murder might be derived from the obsessive desire to exert control on one's surroundings. When the Fall introduced sin into the world, I also think unhealthy obsession came along with it. For a physical metaphor, too much of a good thing really is bad for you, even toxic. It's been proven that even drinking too much water can kill you — it used to be a torture method in Europe. While we're imperfect beings here on earth, we really do have to exert moderation in all things. Obsession can happen in the animal world, as well, most especially if something has gone wrong with the animal. Remove the nerve from a fly that tells its brain its stomach is full, and it will eat until it explodes.

"Even if the teacher claims that 2 + 2 = 17, does that change the fact that 2 + 2 = 4?"
Aye, but numbers are relative. They were created by humans and are therefore a projection of our minds. 2 + 2 could in fact equal 17. It all depends on what you are thinking of it. Can anyone here say exactly what four is? Can you give a definition of 4? The concept exists in our minds, not the numbers themselves.
We are the animal world. Everything that happens in this world affects all of us just the same. We are all part of the same world, so you really can't say animals are part of one world and humans are part of another. Not to mention humans are very animalistic in their ways anyway. They have just strayed farther from the path of animalism, which in my opinion isn't always a good thing.

Hmmm...I wouldn't quite say that. I would say that the concept is part of creation. It is logic, found in God and defined by His rules. The numbers are how we get our minds around the concept--and expression of the logic that truly is.
This corresponds to other behaviours, including our "sin nature"...*pauses to laugh at private joke* The concepts are there. They are good or evil. What is learned is our means of expressing what is truly in us.
