Yayz! Here's where our candidates may post their party names as well as speeches, yadda yadda and so forth. Remember, there's responsibility and things of that sort that go along with this campaign...
Okay, so now that you're all good and tired of hearing Jandalf blather about things, post and/or read the speeches and things!
And as a final request, if you're not here to post a speech, please don't post at all. It'll make things run that much more smoothly. Thanks!

You know me as Cy-Raxx Skywalker, though through the years of surfing the turbulent and colorful waves of the Internet I’ve gone by many names. At home in ArEl I am a high school junior known for my strange languages, vocabulary, and love of Star Wars. I got started making a mark on the Internet two or three years ago with fanfiction, and about two years ago Eowyn Skywalker, or Tiana, introduced me to ME:I, ProBoards, and you, my dear Middle-Earthian Agents. Right now I am joint admin of the E.S.P.S. and their website, and moderator of various places on ME:I and MFB.hai. Here I’m most active in RPGs and random conversations. As admin, I plan to watch over the facets and peoples of ME:I just as I have in the smaller population on ESPS. Many things will stay the same around here, while I get to know better the mods and others who help run the place. Together we will keep at bay the entropic powers of chaos and decay, lead this site into a suns-bright future. No Plot holds the tremulous strands of life, but here we are allied by friendship and the Force of fiction. Vote on, brave Citizens; Cy Skywalker for admin!

Hello, fellow members of ME:I!
First off, I'd like to say how much I love you all, and that's no gimmick. This site ROX!!! ME:I has sort of become my Internet home, and many thanks to you all for making it a rock-awesome place. So, your question may be, who is Dûncariel? My life on the Internet began, as with many others, on Google, searching for a Lord of the Rings name generator. My search led me to a little corner of the 'net know as the Barrow-Downs, where I first met the phenomenon known as The Message Board. I discovered a sort of affinity for it, and soon joined and became mod of a small Proboards site called the Citadel, which met it's doom sometime last year. I have moderated on three other boards since then, two of them dead, and the last this site itself. In RL I am a Junior in a small High School of about a hundred and fifty, Varsity Manager of the volleyball team, and one of four people in my British Literature class who actually understand the complexities of Beowulf.
But the real question at hand is this: What can I add to a team of already able Admins? My answere? Some knowledge, a little spunk, and possibly some other things that I haven't thought up yet. And, who knows, maybe someday I'll learn not to add that extra 'e' onto the end of 'answere'. So, it's all in your hands, fellow members of ME:I. VOTE ON!!!

((I still need party names...))
*steps up to podium, taps the mic a couple times*
Sshhhheerrssssshhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeellllll.
*winces*
*to someone off camera* Of course I can post a speech. I'm the admin, I won't let myself be denied that privilage of last words! *cough, faces camera again*
Good morning, evening, or whatever time it is where you are now, fellow Middle-earthians. I come before you in the most desperate of situations. D
Honorable representatives of Middle-earth, distinguished delegates, Middle-earthians, Jedi, wizards, Istari, Sith, and Your Honor Supreme Chancellor Janorum, I come to you under the gravest of circumstances.
This site has been invaded by Darth Reallife! Invaded, against all the laws of insanity and plots by the...
Darth Reallife: Objection! You have no proof of this! Let a delegation be sent to her highness's home planet to investiagte these claims.
Celebrian: Overruled.
Tiana: Ah. Thank you. As I was saying before I was so rudely inturupted, Middle-earth: Insanity has been invaded.
(deen deeee DUUUUUUUUUUNN)
Tiana: The issue is simple. Long has Middle-earth dwelt under my tyranny, my laws, my choices...
Darth Reallife: (leads a squad of booers)
Tiana: And long has this site rested in my hands, over my shoulders. I have tried, indeed, struggled to shoulder this burden, and at least to my eyes, succeeded. But as Darth Reallife's power grows...
(cheers from Darth Reallife's followers)
Tiana: ...My power diminishes. And thus I come to you, Middle-earthians, friends and allys. Has the time come to fall a vote of no confidance on me, your long term admin? (quiet voice) Is this then the end of what I've tried to build up?
We start a democrocy in the hopes that somewhere, somehow, Middle-earth will not die. It's been too long for that; we've suffered too much for death to claim this webpage's life! But is it my failure, or yours, or the fault of none? Have I unwittingly been the downfall of all I fought to create?
I've always only been one teenage girl across the planet from you, sitting in front of a keyboard. And perhaps my election came too soon, my choice to build pixels into what you see now. And I cannot let it fail, as much as it pains me so.
Which is why I ask that a vote be taken. Elect two new admins; let them shoulder some of the weight as we take arms against Darth Reallife.
And, if need be, let it be voted against me. If this site has been my failure, then I will step down and let you take the site from my tyranny, my utter control. I fought to keep it alive, I've fought to keep this place the open armed webpage, known for no flaming, no arguements, for loving everyone. But if that must end, then call the vote.
I, Tiana Calthye, year and a half ruler of Middle-earth, let my power swing on this hinge. Have I failed? Vote me down, vote in favor of the others, and let their power override mine, if this is the case. Stand against the single minded monarchy this site once wore, if you will.
Or vote for others to stand along side me in this internet battle to keep a site clean and friendly, and let the plot carry on. It is up to you, but let it be known that I have ever loved the members of Middle-earth, and no matter your choice, I will always be here, in spirit if not in text.
Stand for me or against me. I thrilled to make a forum, so many years ago, and never expected to see such come out of it. But my reign could come to its end. What say you, Middle-earth? Are you for tradition, or complete new rule? For tyranny or democrocy, for peace and justice of familiar faces, or a new hand wielding the sword? What say you!
*bows, and steps away from the podium, leaving a ringing silence in the hall*

Do you mean that by voting for these new admins, we're voting against you?

Negatory. Just that you could choose to outvote me, if so you wish. If this goes right, they'll be co-admins with Jandalf and I, however.

*reads* Heh...vote for them!^ ;D Eh, well... I just want everyone to know that, if I am chosen as an admin, nothing will change. Yes, I will take my share of work, and hopefully in that way things will change for the better for those in charge now. But for you, dear members, ME:I will be the same. *shrug* I don't have any big plans... I'll be doing what I do best: what I'm told. Tiana says she wants a more democratic ME:I, and I'm all for it. So, I'll be here to listen to members: what do you want from ME:I? Forum: an Internet discussion group for participants with common interests It's not a forum unless we're all talking. I'd like to help out by making sure that each member here understands a little of what everyone else is thinking. My ideal ME:I is a place where everyone is heard, but no one is shouting. ((And, of course, where darksiders giggle while eating their chocolate.)) So, that's my piece. I know I'm still relatively new; hopefully that let's everyone know where I'm coming from. ~Joan~ Thankies, Campaign Manager Apprentice Ali!

((Great, Tiana. Now no one’s going to want to vote!!! We’re trying to help out, not overthrow your dictatorship… ) And finally, meet your last candidate. Hi. I’m Mekka, and I have just been stuck on a list of people who want to become administrator. It is a little shocking, really. And now they say I have to write a speech, so… I will begin this way: M.E.I is my home. Call me a geek, but some of the folks on this website are as close to me as my RL friends. This place is sticky like peanut-butter, strong like a magnet, and it is the place I came to over a year ago, and stayed. And allow me to put in a good word for my “opponents”: All of them (and I mean ALL) are far more qualified then I will ever be. I have been in awe of Cy and Dun since day one! I am so honored to be placed among them. And Joan, well… I love you, sistah. You’re the best, even if you did sneak on my favorite site and steal everybody’s love!! LOL Now comes the part where I put in a good word for me, heh. I’ve been around for a long time. But then, so have Dun and Cy, so I don’t really have that up on anybody. But I can claim that I have been a well-behaved citizen during that time. And I care A LOT about MEI. That’s got to count for something. I cannot claim that if I win the election, all your problems will be solved. I would be stupid to say that, and you even stupider to believe me. I do have some really cool ideas for this site, though! Being an admin would be so much fun… powerrr… poweeerrrrr… POWERRRR!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! *ahem* But essentially, I do not want anything about MEI to change. Tiana created a great thing, and this is the MEI I love and know. There’s nothing like it anywhere else on the net (ESPS exceptionated, but they have a style of their own, eh, Cy?), and ((LISTEN UP, I’M ABOUT TO LECTURE YOU!!)) members are lot of what makes MEI what is. For so long I have enjoyed being a member of MEI, mostly because of the wonderful job our admins have done. And now, I would love to have a chance to return that favor. Okie, sappy speech over! You can all go home now!! Just remember… *hands out buttons* VOTE FOR MEKKA!!! W00t!!! Five Things To Know About Me1. I love monkeys. 2. I understand the importance of the number 152763. 3. The purple dye. I PH34R IT!!! 4. I talk too much. (as you can see) 5. WHITE CHOCOLATE ROX MAH SOX!!!!

And, an announcement to votees. As two admin-possible elects have decided they like dictatorship, will these elections be forced to an end? Is Middle-earth doomed? Tune in next ti...
(coughs)
I was merely checking. Now to make "vote for" buttons...

*cheers* GO MEKKA!!!!
*COUGH*
Bah. Forgot the All-cursed caps lock key was still on. Anyway, I suppose it's about time I introduced my Party. With a capital 'P', of course. We (myself and all of my multiple personalities...) are the Greyside, Defenders of all things Colorless and Bland!!! *cough* Jokes...
Our real goal? Hopefully, to help each faction of ME:I work together. As my fellow electee has so stated, the higher goal is for a more democratic ME:I. Members working 'hand in hand' to make this place flow as it did in its former glory. I know that the Darkside and Lightside will never join, for all of their differences, but those differences are not our issue.
I've been forbidden to offer anyone cookies, as bakes-sales are my former Master's domain. But the Greyside has Vacation Packages.... heh...

Heh...what's the rule on alias voting? *evil*
|
|
|
Post by Tiana, eh? on Sept 28, 2005 16:21:12 GMT -5
(coughs) Depends on whether you're alias-voting for yourself...
I know I'm going to alias vote with my most active alias. She pretty well counts as a completely different member... but I'm also going to have her vote for someone different than my main vote, I think. But I don't think I'm going to alias vote with anyone who doesn't post that often. So, one or two alias votes are fine... even for the people in the elections. I think. If Jandalf has a complaint with that, well...
(shrugs) Just as long as you're not getting 28 aliases and voting yourself up. We CAN see who voted in a poll, you know...

Cy here: I have no aspirations to dictatorship, only of aiding if aid is needed, etc. I feel the pain of the death of a world, a site I mean, and Tiana is the fulcrum of this world. May she have her Real Life and us, may she shoulder less responsibility if that is what she needs but no less respect and power.
My party, for now, is called the noble Poultryist Party. *Cy comes riding in on a white yingyn* What do we support? Fiction, and chickens, and freedom of clickying, and happiness and pickles for all. Democracy, which was invented by the chickens. The Plot shall run freely through MEI under this benevolent and multifaceted (a.k.a. non-dictatorship) leading.

As a matter of fact...I'm not really taking to this idea of letting aliases vote as well. It rather defeats the purpose of holding a poll in the first place if one person has two additional "opinions" over another.

We're voting in two admins. I think having a person allowing one alias vote is okay. So that's my word. My word is law, remember? Heh...
Had it been electing only one, I would've said no immediately. I say one alias vote is allowed, as long as it's not for the same person.

*steps up to mike*
Candidates? A few questions for you to address:
What is your position on the mining of Tibbanna gas?
Should Ewoks be counted as friends or food and why?
Should there be an alias limit?
Is Lembas a staple food or a delicacy?
Should we rebel and take over the Matrix?
Would you count the Black Pearl as a motor vehicle?
Thank you. *steps down*

Leave that to the experts.
Neither. Why count them at all? What a waste of time...

Probably.
Been there, done that.
Not at all! The Black Pearl is wind-powered!
