Title: The Battle for Alterra: The Dragon's Crystal
Rating: PG for violence, gore, violence, more violence, implied swearing... yeah, that about covers it.
Genre: Original fantasy-esque stuff. And, er, a bit of fantasy parody in amidst the action.
REVIEW ME!!!
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is co-written, if that isn't obvious enough by the fact that this opening has decent spelling and capitalization (hey, it's no problem) by Tiana and Frodo. Basically, for this chapter, he narrated most of it to me to type out, because I type way too fast, and then there's one part that just I wrote. Later on, there were some parts that just he wrote, so it might be a while before there's too many updates since I have to go over them and make sure they fit in comfortably to the rest. We're going to try posting a chapter at a time. I'll indicate in the text where I wrote, or he wrote if it comes to that. ENJOY!!
CHAPTER ONE!!
In a universe far beyond our imagination there was a land. Its name was Alterra. A man named Ethenil and his son named Methron lived in the forest of Fortune-Beths there were others that they were at peace with. Those were the Maloni trolls and the legendary dragon king and Nomll dragons.
Ethenil had a special gift: he could become two of his choice of dragons. He chose water and earth. His son Methron could morph into Ethenil, his father's form.
Cethali was the evil queen of Thsee's army. Thsee's are things that have long teeth and long spikes coming from their arms. Cethali was a half vampire. They were at war against the people of Fortune-Beths, the Maloni trolls, and the dragon king of Mohone mountains.
She wanted the Kethal crystal. It was the dragon king's crystal and could take the dragon king's spirit and transfer it to her. In the dragon king's fortress in the middle of the Mohone mountains, the crystal stays where no dragon or living soul can enter but through the dragon king himself. The fortress is surrounded by a forest, protected by the forest dragons, a mile all the way around the fortress. The fortress itself is like a castle, but forged in the middle of a mountain. It's a dark area, only torches hanging from the roof providing light.
The crystal is in a golden room, surrounded by carvings of the ancient dragons. In the pedistal where the crystal sits, magical diamonds provide the only light in the room. The dragon crystal is blue. If you look inside it, you can see the dragon king's of the past.
The dragon king's name is Domal. He's a warrior of the past, very strong and very cunning, and stealthy. Ten thousand years old, he's ancient and very wise. The dragon king is ten feet tall.
Beyond the fortress, near Ethenil's camp, a battle rages between the Thsee's and the Maloni trolls. The death ray dragons also fight with them, for all dragons are for the dragon king and the good side.
Thsee's are nearly invincible. Only their head is their weakness, the rest of their body is utterly indestructable by any means. This is why from above the death ray dragons have riders with bows, shooting down arrows and deadly lasers from the mouths of the death ray dragons. Let's go outside of the battle now to Ethenil's camp where all the females and children who don't fight (because some of the women are archers) lie and worry about their loved ones. Because of the world's magic, if one person's love dies, they lose their will to live.
Haog the troll, Commander Ethenil, and Domal the death ray dragon king were planning in the canyon of Mohoth.
"This is a good spot." Ethenil pointed at the map of the fortress of Mahela. It was a mine where the enemy's weapons were manufactured and forged. "I think we should bring our troops along both sides."
"Good idea," the dragon acknowledged. "Shall I bring my troops from above?"
"Yes, good idea. Sir Haog, take your troops a'front of the fortress to distract them while we sneak over the back of the mountain."
"No, that sounds foolish!" Haog slammed his fist down onto the table. The table shattered, and Ethenil stared at it in horror. The troll king immediately called for one of his underlings to bring a replacement table, picking the map out of the rocky remains before it disintigrated. "Oops. Sorry about that."
"That was my best table!" Ethenil exclaimed in utter horror.
The dragon king rolled his eyes. "Then what do you suggest we do, Sir Haog?"
"I suggest that we just attack from both sides of the door at once."
The dragon king watched as the replacement table was set down and the shattered stone swept away. "Why don't we dragons still attack attack from above, coming in from above while you march in from the sides?"
Haog picked up a piece of the broken stone table, munching on it thoughtfully. Ethenil's expression was indescribable. "You have very... strong teeth," he attempted courtiously.
"Gold's my favorite flavor."
"If gold is your favorite flavor, why don't you just go to a gold mine and eat?!"
"A gold mine? But there's none around!"
Domal sighed; a dangerous light swelled up within his eyes. "You're beginning to sound like children. Can we return to the matter at hand?"
So, abandoning the matter of the table in light of the battle plans, they returned to discussing things normally. Or at least, they tried to. All of a sudden, the battle commander of the death ray dragonriders broke through the door. "We have a big problem! Our enemy is marching towards us from the mountain fortress!"
"Um... forget the plans!" Ethenil stood up sharply, his eyes wide. For some reason, the table was less than important in the light of a battle. "Let's join our armies in battle."
The light in the dragon king's eyes had altered. "I shall ready my troops for your riders."
"Good. Well... Sir Haog... we're going to need you in this battle."
"I shall be there."

Which was why, within a few hours, the armies of the men, trolls, and dragons met against the Thsee's of the mountain's weapon fortress.
[tiana]
Immediately seperating their army from the humans, the Maloni trolls snuck around in behind, blending in with the trees that surrounded the mountains. It was mid afternoon, hot sunlight beaming down from above and causing all the armored troops great discomfort.
Ethenil wondered to himself exactly what was transgressing at his camp.
Of course, it was another battle of smaller proportion, and a battle that was quickly ended as the current army of Thsee's called in for backup, summoning all their nearby allies. A horn blew from in behind them.
They were trapped!
"Oh, blast it," Ethenil swore to himself, summoning a small amount of his troops to attack the Thsees now approaching them from two directions. The helmeted monsters mocked the trapped human army, throwing horrible taunts across the battlefield to the trapped army.
The taunter was immediately silenced by a burst of flames from above. The death ray dragons had not abandoned their allies, no matter how many of the spiked creatures had surrounded the human commander's unprepared army.
But there were less dragons in the sky now; mainly just the ones with riders remained.
Good, Ethenil thought. Perhaps they will bring back needed reinforcements.
It wasn't often that a battle went this awry, this soon. Surely there was some intent underlying the entire scene... surely there was something they could do!
Sword drawn, [/tiana] he walked over to an unsuspecting Thsee and chopped off its head. The rest of the Thsees were no longer unsuspecting, though, as the human commander had now slain one of their kind. They turned on the human from where they had stared up into the sky at the vanishing dragons, now recognizing his presence. They pounced on Ethenil, trying to stab him.
"Ow!" Ethenil kicked one in the face and stood up before another Thsee could tackle him. The Thsee he had kicked toppled over, face first to the ground. Kicking it's helmet off, Ethenil stabbed it through the head, not waiting to see if it was dead before dropping into a defensive position.
Sticky purple Thsee blood stained his sword. Ethenil grimaced; his sword was going to rust at this rate. After pushing a few more Thsee over, he wiped it off in the trampled grass. Fortunately for him, the remaining death ray dragons were melting the Thsee's heads, keeping most of that army tied up away from him.
But, from behind, a Thsee tackled him down. His sword fell from his hand, and he had to fight not to be immediately impaled by the spikes on the Thsee's arms. Spotting the human leader's distress, a dragon wheeled back—
Blast, blast, blast! You're going to melt me with it!
—and breathed out its firey death against the Thsee attacking Ethenil. Ethenil rolled away before the laser ray from the dragon, its second attack to slay the Thsee with the melted helmet, could blow him up too. The laser always caused an explosion, and he didn't want to be there when it—
BOOM!
—did.
Ethenil had, fortunately, been taught the theory of stop, drop, and roll when ones clothing is on fire. Dropping to the ground, he rolled to extinquish the fire, and knocked over a few Thsees into the fire while he was at it. His cloak was ruined, though.
Where the Thsee had been, there was now a charred spot of ground and a bit of twisted, melted metal.
