And use it well he does....*chuckles at the thought of another summer of repeated trips to the movie theatre to see the movie time and time again...and this year I'll be able to drive there! Myself!*

I will once again be relying on my understanding parents to ferry me back and forth...

I do have a movie theatre close to me, it's just that they're normally playing the very film I'd rather chew my arm off and batter myself to death with than see.

And whyever would one want to pay for a movie that would induce gnawing one's limb off and bashing it over one's head? It's purely nonsensical...like that time I saw 50 First Dates... (shudders)

Funnily enough, the only film where I've considered clubbing myself to death with aforementioned chewed-off arm instead of sitting through was the third That weird kid with the glasses... what's his name? Peeves: Potty Wee Rotter. film... I went to see it for the THIRD TIME because all the little kids at my drama group wanted to see it. As soon as the opening credits began, I wasn't sure I was going to make it through with all my limbs intact...

The fourth film was better though, in my opinion.
Anyway, back to Jack Sparrow's compass. I saw it briefly in the advert for POTC 2 - what significance do you think it'll play in that?

Little or none. It's usefulness is worn off - they found the Isla de Muerto. Unles Jack wants to find something else. Heh, that would be handy....
Jack: *clenching compass* Where's the nearest bottle of rum?
Compass: Dwoing. *points*
Jack : Ah HA! Now, where' s the best place to hide where the Turner brat won't find me?
Compass: *points*
Jack: *scampers*
.... Imagine what the Turner brat would use it for....
Will: Where's Elizabeth?
Elizabeth : Right here, you dolt! Where's Will's brains?
Compass: *no response*
Elizabeth: HA!
Quite a dangerous tool, that.

Well, in the advert he's sitting leaning against a wall, holding it in front of him, and doing weird hand gestures towards it - holding out all five fingers, drawing it back and closing it into a fist, opening out into a star again...
That looks really weird, but he does it really quickly, kind of like a *POOF!* effect with his hand. And he looks kinda disturbed when he does so.

*ahem* Jack's compass points to whatever the holder wants most in the world.

I KNOW! I KNOW I KNOW--*dies* I thought of this thread when it was explained in PotC II. As Absolon just said. *sigh* It points to what whoever is holding it wants most...so first he wanted the Pearl and then the curseéd treasure, in the first one...
