To make a few facts known, aliases have been around on MEI since day one, pretty much. They were a more tangible form of "co-authors", a faze that died out a while back. Everyone had a fair idea of who owned who. I was Neo and Anakin. They were my co-authors, of a sort. Warious had Jack Sparrow. (Trinity was mistaken as an alias for a while)
Very shortly there were created the aliases for the sake of "amusing self by trying to fool people". The most notable of these was one of mine, who made Jandalf freak out (sort of) when I revealed her identity. Nonetheless, none of these aliases blatently broke rules and argued with themselves. After a mistake of accusing someone's sibling of being an alias and causing an arguement about karma, we sort of let the alias trend fade down. Severely.
After which, most aliases created were for one purpose. RPG ONLY. There were a few others made, but none started wars. Bar Kaylea Daysruin, which was to test the speed of admin reactions to potentially offensive signatures.
Nonetheless, admins have the option to view IP addresses AND hidden email addresses. We know who all your aliases are. And we are not happy with the overuse of aliases of late, particularly in arguements and other such events. I resorted to using one of my own to bring an arguement to a head.
I am putting into effect a temporary rule.
NO MORE ALIASES UNLESS UNDER ONE RULE. THEY ARE FOR RPG, AND MADE PUBLIC.
This means you say quite explicitly that "I'm so in so's aliases for RP".
We KNOW when an alias is made. The trend isn't funny anymore. Thank you.
-Your loving admins.
who mean it, too.
