I though this site needed it, for new members and such, so here it is:
I'll start with the basics. All those buttons in the add tags area put code in your post. That code is called UBBC(Universal Bulletin Board Code). All codes start with this [thecode], and end of with this [/the code]. The slash in the second "the code" is what tells the computer to stop executing that code.
1. Links
A link that takes you to a different page is setup like this;
The hyperlink tag and the url inside it, like this
Sometimes you don't want the full url in your post. What if you had a really long one like www.cxotoday.com/linux/jsp/article.jsp?article_id=3675&cat_id=1198. It takes up too much space. Instead, type the code like this:
Change the url to the one you want and the text how you want it and this is the result: text you want seen in the message
2. Pictures
Picture are the same. Click the
button and insert your url inside the img tags like so:
And the result is a picture in your message, of course.
Update: How to hyperlink images.
Basicly, this is making someone go to the url you type in when they click the picture you posted. The coding is as follows:
Update: Image thumbnails that expand
This one involves a few steps.

How it turns out:
The coding for that example:
Method 2
If you have a photobucket or theimagehosting account you can use this method.
3. Text functions
Text can be bolded, italicised,strikethroughed, made to [glow=green,2,300]glow[/glow],coloured, superscripted, subscripted, teletyped, , [shadow=red,left,300]shadowed[/shadow], and , using the many tags. All you have to do is click the tag button you want and insert the text between tags.
Also, you can use the text formatting buttons to get your message aligned how you want it. For example, what if you wanted to write a poem you would use the center tags, to make something like this:
That's all for now, Hope you learned something!

Update: How to hyperlink images.
Basicly, this is making someone go to the url you type in when they click the picture you posted. The coding is as follows:
[URL=the url you want them to go to][IMG]the url of the image][/IMG][/URL]
Update: Image thumbnails that expand
This one involves a few steps.
- shrink the large image to a small thumbnail size(like 100 by 100, or 50 by 50 pixels, or some small size). You can use paint to do this. Open your original image in paint, then choose Image>stretch and skew. Under the stretch section input a % value around 15% or 10% in both fields. It really depends how big your picture is. Use your judgement on what % to use. To make sure your stretched image is the right size, go to Image>Attributes and look at the height and width text areas. They should be less than 200 by 200 each. If they're not, then stretch it some more. Once you've got it to the right size, save it as .png (.bmp files seem to have a problem on photobucket for me).
- Upload both the original large version of your picture and the small thumbnail version to an image host. (photobucket, tinypic, theimage hosting, ect.)
- In your post, use the image hyperlinking method, but for the url inside the IMG tag use the small thumbnail picture. For the first url, use the url of your large picture.
How the coding would look:
[URL=Big version url][IMG]small thumbnail image[/IMG][/URL]
How it turns out:
The coding for that example:
[URL=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/caffeinerush/BEST20ABSTRACT20
by20Lucio20Mondavi.jpg][IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/caffeinerush/bestthumb.jpg[/IMG][/URL]
Method 2
If you have a photobucket or theimagehosting account you can use this method.
- Log in to your Photobucket/TheImageHosting account
- Upload your image. If you've already done this, skip this step.
- You'll see that your images are in thumbnail mode already. Right click the thumbnail you want and click properties.
- Copy the address (URL) of the picture thumbnail
- Paste that url in the IMG tags.
- Copy the address of the big picture that your image hoster gives you.
- Paste that url in the URL tags. The formatting is the same as the other thumbnail method.
3. Text functions
Text can be bolded, italicised,
quoted
Also, you can use the text formatting buttons to get your message aligned how you want it. For example, what if you wanted to write a poem you would use the center tags, to make something like this:
This is your poem,
It looks better like this,
centered and nice,
and you'll be in bliss
It looks better like this,
centered and nice,
and you'll be in bliss
That's all for now, Hope you learned something!
