Let's not start slamming ppl, Goobs. Don't break the rules...
But I do agree that, in order to be Catholic, you need to believe all of the Church's teachings. That would be like saying, "I am a fish, but I am allergic to water". It does not really make sense... no offense, of course.
... and Goober... you double posted *wishes he could be a moderator or some sort of higher ranking. Would be fun for him*

Yeah, watch the double postings... once in a while is no big deal, but if you want to add on to your post, you can use the modify button... 'tis a better alternative. And do please watch what you say! People have different reasons for different things, and it's better to hear them out than jump up and start pointing fingers...

I am not Catholic, and I do pray in public, but that's not my point. I want to know what the "Intercession of the Blessed Mother" is. Would you please tell me?

Amen.
Thought I'd pop in just to clarify something...I'm fairly sure it's not just me, that I've been seeing a little confusion over terms here.
Fact: as it stands from the very beginning, anyone who is a Christian is Catholic, as being Catholic means to be Christian. I'm Catholic, Baptists are Catholic, Presbyterians are Catholic, et cetera, not just the ones who are commonly referred to as Catholic. Under that is where the main split took place into the Roman Catholic and the Protestant churches. People just tend to call Roman Catholics simply Catholics.
I'm wondering if there have been some undue assumptions alongside those confusions of terms. It's easy to do, and in no way am I trying to insult anyone's intelligence. I'd just like to reaffirm here that anyone who believes in Jesus' sacrifice and atonement for their sins and follows after him is a Christian, whether they be Roman Catholic or Protestant. There are lip-service/hypocritical/"fake" Christians everywhere; they aren't limited to one church or the next. What makes everyone a family is our belief in Jesus' essential role in our salvation. Period.
(And, boy, does that make me happy...)
EDIT: I am in no way intending to debase one denomination or the other. Fact of the matter is, I'd rather there was only one denomination with everyone together. Unity's what I'm going for here. "Catholic" is simply a term from history applying to the church in general, and therefore Christians in general.

In fact, neither term was used by the original apostles. "Christian" was originally an insult referring to a follower of Christ and was simply adopted by those whom we now call Christian. To be truthful, Christian and Catholic are both historical terms, but the church, with no title, was before that. If we referred to the church when referring to everyone in general, that would be appreciated.
It is well established that in this thread, Christian has meant prodestant, and Catholic has meant Roman Catholic. But some clarification might be nice.
Anyone who believes in Jesus's death is Christian and saved, no matter what DENOMINATION they are. However, this thread has been more denomentationally arguementive. Denomination does not matter, simply our beliefs do.
Reach 500 posts, Barney. Okay? Then we'll discuss moderation powers...
I'm going to suggest this thread be closed and a new one be begun, thank you all, but this one is getting... yeah. I'll archive it in a couple days and you guys can start a new one. If things keep on this way, that is. Too much admin intervension.
Back on topic. Feel free to make seperate topics for the many ideas spawned from this thread.
