(maybe this should be in the Media board, but I am in there very seldom and so do not know.) I propose a contest of short stories by members. The format will be thus; you, and I mean you as you are personally or on the Internet, are a Mary-Sue killer, Plotseeker, PPCer whatever you know them to be called. Go about saving canon. Twill be judged upon uniqueness of the canon format, writing, and characterization of yourself and at least one other MEIer who is involved in the plot. If that's me you will get karma surely. Could be in first person or whatever you want. No deadline untill I get annoyed with how long it's taking; PM submissions to me. They should be up to three or four Word pages, a little more or less.

Define canon...
I still don't get that, but I would like to enter if the contest is explained a bit more. Do yu want us to write like the ESPS dijquest thingy? Is that what you mean?

Could you also explain what "uniqueness of the canon format" means? And I'm assuming you mean existing canon from real life.

Canon, as in, how the storie's supposed to be written. As in, for instance, in LotR, Frodo is not a woman. Like that. Not sure about the creative part.

are we supposed to be 'in the story' like we see Anikan kissing some Mary-Sue and snipe her?

Silver etc.; canon meaning a fandom, like LotR without Frodo being a women, yes. Creativity meaning how you as a relatively normal human being interact with fiction; in an organization, alone, in a digital world like my DijQuest? (to be found on ESPS). Yeah, Alistair, that's an option.

I still don't get canon, but if it's like the ESPS story than I think I know what you mean.

Well, I don't... What do you mean by canon?

Mary Sue Killer contest? Good call Cy. I'm in. What do you mean by Word pages? (Doesn't have Microsoft Word...) Expect a couple of paragraphs at least from me. Heh, I was going to do this anyways...

Star Wars is one canon, The Matrix another, Dune another. They are the worlds within books or fandoms.. Thanks, Doom'...whoever you used to be. 3 Word pages is 2,000 words, but that is also a mid-size short story by many standards and is a rule made to be broken in this case.

So an OC goes around in a canon, i.e. Star Wars, and tries to keep it canon by, say, killing off other OCs, namely Mary-Sues to prevent them from ruining things... Am I reading this correctly?

Whoa. I had exactly this same idea for a fanfic once, where the Valar have this FBI-type thing set up to eliminate Sues as they come in and thwart their attempts to ruin the canon (which is also defined as how the story has been published without the meddlings of fanfiction authors). I just never got around to writing it...but this seems like a good excuse...if I can find the time...

That plot is really very overdone, but who cares...sigh.
So. Now I'm stepping in as admin...
An explanation as how I've seen this.
Those of us deciding to enter write a short story, which is about 2 to 15 pages in Word (because my idea of a short story is usually around 8 to 20 pages... heh... I've only managed a one/two page story a couple times). In this story, we insert our internet selves as the MC (Main Character) and one other Middle-earthian, whom we can decide which one to use as our secondary.
We go about and are Mary-Sue killers, protecting the canon, canon being defined as the EXACT occurances in the book/movie, as they set the story out to be, and no other way. EI: Frodo destroys the one ring, Anakin marries Padmé, not some girl named Angelamberellanesstavillia; Palpatine dies, Luke marries Mara Jade, Peter is High King, Leto dies... so on. Heh.
You aren't made to kill them (Mary-Sue OCs), but at least thwart their attempts to ruin the canon.
Admin approval. As long as short story can be longer than three pages, or my head will blow up. I can take two pages and not even get into the story... that's just to set the stage. (rolls eyes)
(considers) I bet anything everyone would expect me to write in Jandalf as my other Middle-earthian.
For that, I am DEFINATELY not using her... (cackles)
Are we limited to one other Middle-earthian? And is there a set canon for Middle-earthians, or are we allowed to let MEI be... well... our own canon?

It doesn't have to be just Suefighters either. Anything affecting canon from the point of view of one of us; not necessarily just one of us, Tiana. There are few rules. I presume Middle Earth counts as Earth-canon...though it can be a virtual reality if that makes more sense. I'm not sure what you mean by that. Aright, make it longer if you must. I just wasn't seeing it as something important enough to be a big project. I have to conspire about what are prizes...

Hmm, yes...
If Tiana and I attempted a cowritten entry, it would be 400 pages before we got around to introducing everyone... (falls over)
Stang. If I do get around to doing this...who do I put in?
...CR!

We should try to do a short one anyway, though... snrk...
I was considering using CR too. (shrugs) But if we're not limited to one other person, that's fine...
I'd like it if MEI was considered some sort of virtual reality, though. It would make more sense, really, if it was something like Otherland... (which inspires ideas for a fantasy/original/sci-fi RP) And I just have trouble limiting things to 3 pages... I write fast, that's all. If it doesn't really matter how long it is, as long as it's not a novel and sort of finished, really... heh...
Yup. Thanks. (conspires)

Two questions:
1) You should get permission of the other ME:Ier in your fic to use them, yes? They can say no, keep me out of this...
2)Does it have to be a fake canon? Limited to SW, PotC, LOTR, MAtrix, etc?
3) How do we turn it in - posting, PM or direct email?
4) Does it have to be kept from the other entrants? Like no posting before the judges see it?
5) I get that you don't have to kill M-Ses, just thwart em, but isn't eliminating the threat entirely part of the idea? (Kyp: She just wants to killl something...*rolls eyes* C:Yes, I do. I haven't done that in a long time.. the urge to kill is upon me.... Eh... Sorry. Involved coauthor chat.)
6) The other MEIer, can you double ppl? Like everyone use CR? (No , he was not one of my candidates... )
Yes, that was not two questions. See why you don't let me ask questions.

1.) I suppose they should be asked, yes. 2.)Part of it at least must be, but not all. 3.)I said before to PM me, because for creativity they should not be shown to the other contestants. 5.) You wanna kill something, go ahead. It doesn't have to be a Sue that's threatening the canon. 6.)If you make your own choice on the someone and someone else has them in theirs too, go ahead with it if the person's ok with it.
