I LOFF IT!!!
Being British, I was raised with the knowledge of it. And the new incarnation is, as the Doctor would say, FANTASTIC.
You've only got the Christopher Eccleston series over there, which is great, but wait till you get the David Tennant series ;D It's even better.

YAY! ANOTHER FAN! It's such a cult thing, snrk... I don't know the names. Yet. I want a Time Master...he's so...not hot per se, but awesome, with the mysteriousness in the beginning of this new one. Are there more than one new version? I like your location, hobbit-eyes.

I take it you're watching the Christopher Eccleston series - guy with big ears and nose, stomps about looking moody/hyper in a black leather jacket? That's just come out in America.
Yes. He is very very awesome. But as I said, wait for the next series with David Tennant. Then he is still awesome and mysterious, but also FAR too attractive for his own good.
Well, me and my friends think so, anyway.
NEW SERIES STARTS HERE IN SIX DAYS!!!! *SQUEE*
But you get to see the Eccles Cake series for the first time! Hmmm, things you have to look forward to.... Daleks! Oh, and the mightiness that is CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS!!! *squee* My friends and I debate as to whether he is cooler than Captain Jack Sparrow. It's a close run thing.
What episode are you on over there?

We're not very far. Last episode I saw was with Charles Dickens and zombie/aliens, but there's a new one tonight. YAY! Squee's, LOL! Eccles is so wierd looking/cool because he's serious/hyper. Now I can't wait for the next one...hee. *waits impatiently for Captain Jack II*

....
I love Doctor Who, the old one more or less than the new one. The new one is exciting because it has nifty new graphics, but the old one just has that... timeless quality to it, no pun intended, lol.
New series, hm? Wha...? Huh? Are they replacing the actor, or what's going on?

It's gone through so many actors already...at least, from what I know...
BUT I LOOOOVE THE SHOW!! I just want more access to it, that's all. Wheee! I've only seen a few episodes, but I'm definitely a fan, even if I'm nowhere near being a buff.

Basically, in the days of yore Dr Who was created. It had wobbly sets and camp acting, but people still loved it (as do I, still, especially Tom Baker) But around the eighth actor playing him, it fell off the TV schedules.
Last year, the BBC decided to have another shot at it, and made a new series with Ecclescake as the Doctor. This was the new 'first series', as in it was the first series to most British sprogs, but still made sense continuum-wise with the other serieses.
The reason they've had so many actors is that the Doctor isn't human, he's a Time Lord. And when Time Lords are close to dying, they can regenerate - change every single cell in their body to survive, so they look different and usually have a slightly different personality, but still are themselves.
Thing is, he only gets 12 regenerations, and by Ecclescake we're up to Doctor Number Nine. He doesn't have many left...
NEW SERIES STARTED HERE ON SATURDAY, and OMG IT IS FANTASTIC!!!! I loved it so much!!! Had some of the BEST LINES EVER. I can't tell you any of them because they'd be spoilers, but trust me, they're fabby ;D

And Jack, you so ought to add Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who to your name...

Try to get 'Tom Baker: Genesis of the Daleks' too. Though that's only just come out over here. And I haven't got it yet, so I can't talk...
Basically, Tom Baker was arguably the best of the old Doctors, and 'Genesis of the Daleks' was one of his greatest stories. But most say the best was 'City of Death'.

Ah, now it all makes sense to me. I've seen the older one, and this new one, and so I was wondering if they just couldn't hold an actor and that was why they changed the character so much. But, that makes sense too.
I think what is really cool is how many people here in the US are actually watching it. I go to school and am like, "OMG, I love Doctor Who" and all these other people are like, "Wow, me too!!" Plus, the people at my work LOVE the other characters that are on the show, like the tree people a while back. (My physical anthropology teacher loved that one, because he said we are on the brink of genetically engineering a plant to talk, since they have so much other stuff as well.)
Anyway, getting off the point, but yeah, I love the show. I have half a mind for writing a fanfic about it, but I want to see the rest of the season to see what happens, so that I don't write myself into a hole. Bah, I really love this show.

I love this show so much that I actually get home from school early on Thursdays so that I can watch 'Totally Doctor Who', a kids' program about the show... because they sometimes show clips of the next episode... -hangs head in shame-
I HAVE A SONIC SCREWDRIVER!!! -aims it at door- -is disappointed when it doesn't open it-

LOL... don't feel bad. I watch all kinds of crazy things about it when I have the time. O.o... (drools) Yeah. Oh, and I told my family that there would be a new doctor and they were like, "But why?!" My neighbor has been watching the show since it started... she is a Who-aholic. She knows everything about Doctor Who, Tardis, the compainions, everything. Bah, I ask her loads of questions.

Sweet. I have like no time for extra TV....I've seen one group of episodes called Legacy of the Daleks I think, with an older actor I thought was really good. There were workers from a funeral home on this planet, and they were turning human bodies into Daleks. Eh? That's the first one I'd ever seen cause my mom bought it for me. ;/

I am going to have to borrow tapes of the old shows, so that I can understand the Who better. ;D And hey, if anyone wants to let Jack know about the technical stuff of Doctor Who (as I was only introduced a few weeks ago) then she might love you forever.
