I got two new bunnies of which I named Romeo and Juliet. I can't wait for them to have babies!
I have a pair of Chinese Owl pigeons sitting on two eggs. They should hatch any day and I am very excited!
I also have a load of eggs waiting to be put in the incubator. Then I will have lots of baby chicks to sell.

I've always wanted a hawk... (muses) Are merlins any good for pets?

I haven't heard of anyone keeping a merlin for Falconry, but Harris Hawks are great. Raptors can't really show compassion like other animals can. It's weird. They do have compassion, you just have to understand it though.
You could always become a falconer's apprentice and get your license for Falconry. If you have the space of course. It's a great sport.

Hmm...okay. I had supposed some sort of predatorial instinct might get in the way, a bit...not like I was expecting a cuddly pet. Heh. Falconry...I did some looking into it a little while back. It does sound fun. Just like the other bazillion things I want to do. (grins)

I love Raptors! They are just absolutely awesome!
I saw a golden eagle the other day that this guy had. Oh man, I have never seen anything more awesome in my life, save for a few other animals! The power in those eyes was more than I could ever explain in words.

Really? You incubate chicken eggs? I've always wanted to... but haven't... heh... My dad and I made an incubater, but it's not quite done. Anyways, do you have any tips, Silver? I've done a little research, but, well, I could use all the help I can get... Thankses : )

Oh I'd be glad to help you! I can give you some of the basic info, but if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me (or ask them here. Whatever's easier) Let's see, The temperature should be around 99.5 for a turbo fan (Incubator with a fan) and for a still air the temp should be around 100-102. Still air is probably the kind of incubator you have if you made it. It just means it has no circulating fan. I highly reccommend getting a hygrometer (Humidity guage) and a good thermometer or two. I found my thermometers in Walmart and the hygrometer in the lizard section of a pet store. Humidity is pretty important. You will most likely have to add water to the incubator to raise the humidity depending on the room the incubator is in and the weather of where you live. During incubation time, the eggs should have humidity anywhere from 30%-40%. A little higher is better, but if you put too much water in during the first 18 days. Too much humidity will cause water to fill up the air sac of the egg and the chick will drown when it goes to hatch. With Humidity, less is always better, except for days 18-21. On day 18, more water should be added to increase the humidity to 60%-70%. This helps the eggs to hatch. The eggs will need to be turned two or three times a day for the first 18 days. Feed stores do sell egg turners, which makes life a lot easier. When I hand turned my eggs, I laid them on their sides and marked one end with an X and the other with an O. Then I knew which side to turn them to. You can mark the eggs with permanent marker or a wax pencil. On day 18, you can stop turning the eggs. The chick is now getting ready to hatch and is positioning itself. By turning the egg, you change it's position and it can't hatch right. It usually takes a LONG time for eggs to hatch. From the first pip (the first crack in the egg) to the point where they are actually out of the shell can take up to 24 hours! After the egg hatches though, try to leave the chicks in there for as long as you can. I usually empty the incubator of chicks once a day. This way the humidity doesn't get let out. Otherwise you end up with sticky chicks, or chicks that stick to the shell because there wasn't enough humidity. Chicks can also last for up to two or three days after hatching without food an water. That's because they absorb the yolk sac with all the nutrients. That's pretty much how hatching and incubating is done. It sounds more complicated than it actually is. The best thing to do is just experiment. The things I tell you may not work as good for you as it may for me, but by experimenting, you can see what works best. Humidity is always something that varies depending on what source you are looking at. Use your judgement, but remember, less is better when it comes to humidity. Also, be sure to run the incubator for a day or two before adding any eggs, just to make sure the temp is right and stable. A great website for looking up info is www.backyardchickens.com The message forum there is excellent and the people are VERY helpful. You can get tons of info just from surfing the board's pages. They have a special forum for just hatching and raising chicks. I am Chickerdoodle13 on there. Of course, don't be afraid to ask me if you need help! I'd love to help out another chicken owner/lover/obsessor. I warn you, chickens are an addiction! Many of us need mental help...lolol I mean, how can you refuse those cute little fluffy balls of fuzz, with those big round black eyes?

Thanks for the help, Silver! It is muchly appriciated! And yes, little chickies are so cute! Heh, I'll probably start talking baby talk to them... just like I do to my cat and to the dog sometimes. Hmm, I should post a pic of my cat. She's so fluffy and soft... Sigh, and also arrogant... but that's cats for ya...

Chickens are cute. We... uh... had a cat named Ebony once? Does that count? O, I KNOW! I have a pet dust mite. His name is Xendy. He lives on my computer monitor until it gets dusted and then I have to get a new pet. I want a sand lizard.

I have a dog, Dakota. Used to have parakeets (only one at a time), but I didn't have much luck at bonding with them. They always bit me... And, of course, we have had a handful of Siamese fighting fish, but sadly I think only one lasted a year. I would love to have a horse, but my parents won't let me so I have to wait until I'm older and can afford one and have a place to keep it. When I was younger, I wanted every pet imaginable, like bunnies, horses, lizards, llamas... I was lucky to get a bird.
Chicks are cute! I've never really been around chicken that much, though... No one nearby has any.

I used to have a parakeet when I was little too. We rescued him from an abusive home and he never liked me very much. For a while I was able to get him to go on my finger, but then he would escape out of the cage and fly all around so we couldn't catch. Then we would just leave him in the cage and talk to him. He liked that better I think.
I want a llama! Or an Alapaca! I have come VERY close on many occasions to convincing my dad to let me get one. I think if I found one in the paper that was cheap or free and I really asked him, he would let me get one. I'll have to look for one in the paper!
I think my family may have to put my pig to sleep soon. His back legs aren't looking to good. THey are really underneath himself and he is always tripping and he sits down a lot because he can't walk very well. If he ever goes down and can't get up, we will have to put him to sleep *cry* I don't want that to happen!!
I will be getting new chickens this weekend though! And I will be selling a bunch too! I also just had two more baby pigeons hatch. Now I am up to 8 when I started out with just three. LOL! things around here keep multiplying!

Sure, that sounds good.
I wouldn't bet on cheap or free with those animals...unless someone has an unwanted pet. Llamas and alpacas can be worth a lot...

Yeah, they can be, but Pet quality ones go for $500 or even less. My friend just got a free alpaca. A lot of the breeders will often give away ones if they are not to their standards. We have a TON of Alpaca and Llama farms around here. Even our town mayor had Llamas.
