//Fine! Bug me about posting in the tagboard, why don't you... <The only reason this post is happening is everyones leaving me on my own. erg.> I suppose we meet, then, Elachi...//
The blueish gleam her lightsaber cast wasn't much, but, as she made her way through the dense trees, Shadow was well enough aware that anyone in the area could notice it. She was attempting to keep the noise down, however, not wishing to tangle with any smugglers in the area, or other things, worse then the non-Force sensitives that tended to frequent the area.
She finished working her way through one spot, and then stopped, something faint catching her ear. Someone moving through the underbrush, it seemed like. It was probably no more than an animal, but she wasn't too eager to meet any on this planet. She flicked the switch on her lightsaber, and snapped her arm to her side, reaching up with her spair hand to remove her hood, not that it did much more than remove the obstruct from her eyes. It was still too dark to really see anything with the trees, and gloom of the area. And, if it's that Jedi, without the Force, in this area, I'm nearly helpless, beyond the skills I have without the Force, she thought, grimly. And even more so if he remembers a Jedi Knight named Lania...

He moved in closer to the blue light, but unlike an insect took his precious time, measuring every step. It was impossible to move through the brush in silence, but he did his best.
It is a lightsaber, he realised, with a certain degree of shock. But how... It couldn't be the dark woman. She'd be offplanet by now--
Elachi's musings were cut short as he tripped over a root, sprawling flat on his face not three meters away from the stranger.

//Oh, you. Sith! I know what's going to have to happen here! Sithspawned plot bunny...// (I was not meaning to insult myself there, by the way)
There was a crash in the underbrush not a ship's length away from her, and Shadow whirled around, cloak whiping around her, and into the nearest tree. She would've lit her lightsaber in response to the crash, however, her cloak decided that it wanted to get tangled up within the nearby branchs. Putting her in a rather akward position, being as she couldn't reach where it was caught, and she couldn't move enough to cut herself loose with her lightsaber. Inwardly she cursed the trees, and muttered "Stang," under her breath.
"Who's there?" she asked, attempting to keep her voice under control, her face straight, and devise a way to unhook herself from the tree, all without dropping her lightsaber. If I didn't know better, I'd say it had a mind of it's own! she thought, all her attempts to tug her cloak loose succeeding only in making her hook up worse. Finally she gave up and dropped her lightsaber after about five seconds, knowing consciously that without the Force, she couldn't pull it back to her hand. "Sithspawned son of a Hutt!" she cursed, yanking futiley at her entangled cloak.

((Oh, me...heh heh.))
Through the haze of both brush and mind, Elachi made out the startled voice. That's her, all right. But what is she doing so far from her ship?
...Or have I wandered that far? He already knew he was hopelessly lost, and he could just as well be wandering in circles.
He scrabbled for a purchase that he might pull himself back up...and remembered that just moments earlier, he'd been walking with his lightsaber in hand.
Sith. It's in these bushes somewhere. He tried to reason with himself, to figure out which was better: make a mad search for it and reveal his position with the noise, or drag it out and seek out the lightsaber as quietly as he could, with the risk that she'd find him anyway?
Better go with option B, for now, Elachi decided, and started moving his hands about slowly over the ground in the most likely area. She can wait to be answered until I've armed myself.

"Sithspawned..."
Shadow jerked at her cloak, twisting herself around to get a hold of it with both hands, though it left her in an akward position, with no way to watch her back. Stang, she thought. If I make it off of this planet intact, someone remind me to never land on this planet without a homing device on my ship.
She tugged at her cloak, ignoring the warning flashing in the back of her mind from all the training she had went through that leaving herself unguarded was a bad idea, and leaving her lightsaber on the ground was also not a good idea.
If I had the Force, you Forceforsaken tree, she thought, half muttering it, you'd be in several pieces by now.
Shadow yanked at her cloak again, not wanting to see the obvious solution-- attempt to remove the cloak-- somehow-- and then use her vibroblade to cut it loose. The Sith didn't feel like removing her cloak, especially when there was the chance that that Jedi was still around.
The slight sounds in the trees behind her ceased, and merely served to increase her worry. Forceless, and unarmed, she didn't feel like meeting up with anything possibly dangerous. "All the more reason to get out of this, Lania," she muttered under her breath, yanking at the very entangled cloak again.

He'd found the lightsaber, grabbed it immediately, and slowly rose. Now that the slight noises he'd been making were gone, he could hear her mutter to herself, though he could make out no words.
Elachi was in a quandary. He now was faced with two more options: either to leave now while he could remain undetected and wander for the next few years, or stay and help her get freed from the bush, as her position seemed rather hopeless at the moment, and risk getting his head cut off.
Well, at least the latter would be a faster way of dying. At any rate, if I'm diplomatic enough...would I even be able to get passage off this hellhole of a planet? Unlikely. But I might as well try. Force knows it's all I can do.
Resolutely, he forded through the brush, approaching her, and this time forsook the idea of throwing his voice. "Need some help?"

Shadow panicked at hearing a voice behind her, dropped her cloak, and spun around, making her entanglement even worse having wound her cloak around her legs from the instinctive reaction. The Sith tripped, and fell backwards, glaring up at the Jedi from her position.
She cursed.
"Oh, sure," she snapped, "I need help. It's whether you'll give it. I'd be more inclined to think you'd help me to my death, Master Elachi." She found his name came to memory easy enough from her time as a Jedi. The title was habit. Attempting to stand back up again, Shadow realized that she was slightly too tangled in her long cloak to really move now, and swore again.
Oh, this is really great. Now I'm stuck to a bush with an armed Jedi Master who could at any moment kill me. Probably will too... and what if he remembers a short Padawan named Lania? Oh, sithspawn...
Shadow bit her lip, and muttered, "However, any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated."

The startlement at being addressed by his name faded as he bent down to start working her robes out of the thorns, his lightsaber now hanging at his belt. "You're really stuck in here. I think I'm going to have to use a knife to get you clear. Hope you don't mind a mildly shredded robe, but I'm afraid you don't have much of a choice at the moment." Saying so, he withdrew a small utility knife from his belt pocket and began carefully sawing away at the branches, doing his best to leave her clothing intact.

Shadow held onto the tree that was holding her captive tightly, not feeling particularally comfortable having a Jedi Master cutting her loose, especially when he was armed and she was not.
"A shredded robe is the least of my worries," she muttered in reply, keeping a close eye on the blade he was using to get her loose with. She had noticed his moment of surprise at being addressed by name, but she had remembered the Alderaanian Jedi Master well enough. She did hope he didn't remember her, however-- the only Jedi in existance that knew Lania still was alive was Taania, and that was merely because they were sisters-- the Jedi Knight in question hadn't felt her die, as everyone else thought she had. "I would've made it worse by pulling on it anyhow," she added, relieved that, if nothing else, she'd have intact clothing if she made it off-planet without being carved into several pieces first.

One branch in particular he found difficult to snick through. Working at it, he glanced down at her face once or twice, just to see if perhaps it registered in his memory. Her voice was somehow...familiar, but he wasn't sure why. Was she ever at the Temple, I wonder? But I can't seem to recall her. Has it been a long time, or was she ever there? He was about to reach out to her a little to sense how she touched the Force, when he remembered: they were blinded.
Cutting through the last branch, he turned to the side to make it near impossible for her to make a grab for the lightsaber at his belt, and offered a hand to pull her up. "Relax. I don't make a habit of killing in cold blood."

Shadow gave the Jedi Master a slightly odd look. "Well, I suppose that's a good thing-- but I'm sure you don't make a habit of letting possible dangers out of your sight either, without some... catch. What's your catch for helping me here, Master Elachi?" She accepted his hand anyway, and pulled herself to her feet.
"And you can relax," she added, "I don't make a point of borrowing other people's lightsabers-- even if my own life is in danger. Too likely that they'll explode in my face." There was a distant reference there-- she was testing to see if he remembered her. Because a Padawan named Lania had borrowed her sister's lightsaber once, a long time ago, and nearly caused an explosion. She still had a faint scar on her face from that accident.

"There's no catch," he answered her, and smiled slightly. "I'd ask for a lift back to Coruscant, but you'll forgive me for being somewhat leery about what might happen when we're out of this Forceless bubble. I helped you for the sake of helping you--is that so difficult to understand?"
Then he detected something in his memory...something about the way she'd said "explode in my face". Almost as if she's referring to something. Is she trying to see if I'll catch on to this allusion? Or am I imagining things? There was one circumstance of a lightsaber exploding, but it wasn't that serious...I heard it only scarred the girl's face.
Elachi caught himself from peering too closely at her in the dark. It was far too dim to make anything out. He'd just have to wait and see, he supposed.

Shadow glanced around, looking for wherever her lightsaber had rolled off to as she replied distantly, "Yeah, well, if you think you'd have to be cautious, maybe you should look at it from my POV, Jedi." She narrowed her eyes slightly-- it was now too dim to really make out too much of the area, but she was sure she had caught him taking a closer look at her face. The Sith pulled her hood back up, to hide her face from habit. "And I suppose the 'help your possible worst enemy' thing must be one of those Jedi things..."
She continued looking around for her lightsaber, and finally spotted where it had went in the dim lighting. "...but it's not impossible to understand," she finished. "I understand perfectly well-- which is why you don't really need to be so wary. I don't make a habit of turning on people who just had a very opportune moment to kill me off and decided against it, all right? If you can figure out where on this Force-accursed planet my ship went, you can drive it back to Coruscant, as long as I get it-- and my freedom-- back at the end of the trip. Fair enough?" She smiled faintly.
"And... also... do you mind if I rearm myself?" Shadow asked hesitantly, motioning faintly to her lightsaber over on the ground near Elachi's feet. "I don't... like this helpless feeling... near night-fall on a Forceless planet, and all that."

((Okay, here we go.))
Elachi hesitated, then picked her lightsaber up and held it loosely out toward her. It only makes sense. And I should really accept a ride back, because if I stay, chances are better that I'll die here. At least I'll have a chance at survival, whether I'm riding with a darkside user or not.
"Well, I for one am convinced I've been wandering in circles. I have had some experience in tracking a trail, as I do that sort of thing for a living...but we're going to require daylight to get any results. I suggest we find a spot to take turns sleeping the rest of the night away, then head out to find your ship in the morning."

Lania-- Lathania-- nodded, staring up at the Jedi Master. She made no move to retrieve her lightsaber from his grasp yet. Did he recognize me? It's unlikely anyone would recognize the short little Padawan of Master Althea, Taania's little sister... but still...
I don't know if he caught the lightsaber comment. But I can't ask...
This is getting worse all the while.
"Spending the night on this accursed planet is not on my list of preferred things to do, armed or nay," she said, dryly. "But I suppose it's the only way to go..." Lania reached out, and took her lightsaber back then, holding it loosely in her left hand, but making no move to turn it on or return it to her belt.
He hesitated to return my weapon, yet he still did... is he just foolish, or what?
She smiled loosely, aware that he couldn't see her face under the hood, and asked, almost in an amused tone, "Is it a Jedi thing to rearm possible enemies just to make it so you can kill them without itbeing coldblooded murder, or are you just a fool by nature?"

Elachi smiled gravely. "Perhaps a little of both. Perhaps neither. I, for one, understand the feeling of abject helplessness. I'm not such a fool to believe there's a little good in everyone. However, I do think you'd be wise to keep me alive, seeing as there's safety in numbers, especially when it comes to keeping watch. We both have a better chance at survival alongside each other than with whatever predator dwells in these woods."
This is fascinating, if not dangerous. She speaks to me as if...she knew me. In a roundabout way. Almost like a fellow Jedi would address me. She must have been reared in the Temple. But she's not one of the Lost Twenty. Most are dead, and there weren't any female humans I knew of that left recently. Perhaps she was taken as a crècheling?
"Besides," he added as an afterthought, "you were the one who asked to be rearmed in the first place, and you didn't sound like you expected a denial."

"That I did," Shadow replied coolly, clipping the lightsaber back at her waist. "And, as I said before, Master Elachi, I have no intent of harming you-- considering you had well enough chance beforehand to do so to me, and didn't." She raised both hands slightly. "As you said, safety in numbers... if I may ask such, truce?"
I'm not sure if he recognizes me-- I'm fairly sure he knows I was Jedi... but he has to know I'm not one of the Lost Twenty. But if he knew Taania...
Well, that could pose a problem. If he can name me as Lathania-- Lania-- he'll also know, or have heard that she died. Oh, stang, what am I getting into?! I'm sure that Althea knew Elachi... if just because of that lightsaber incident in the past...
Shadow silently swore, and sat back against the tree, her feet refusing to hold her up any longer. She was aware of exhaustion, and wondered how long it had been since she'd had a full night's sleep. Her Master's abmonishing voice was in her head for a moment: Running on meditation is no way to go, Padawan.
She found herself smiling reminisantly, and wondered if Althea was still alive-- it had been probably 10years since she had seen her Jedi Master... she wondered if she dared ask Elachi about her.
"I'm not sure what I expected," she said, as an afterthought as well. "I don't know if I thought you'd trust me well enough to rearm me... but you're jedi, and you tend to be compassionate-- at least the jedi I know-- and I suppose that extends to Sith." She pushed her hood far enough back to meet his eyes. "Am I your prisioner?" she asked. "Or is this a truce?"

He regarded her as best he could in the dark. "This," he remarked, "is a truce in its truest form, as far as I know. Taking prisoners of war is both unethical and impractical." Besides which, she's the most talkative dark-sider I've ever met...that might be a good sign.
He hesitated for a moment. "You wouldn't happen to know what sort of creatures live about here, would you? Specifically predators? It would be ideal if we both knew what we're up against."

// Pth. I'm sorry, i was laughing about that. talkative...darksider... actually, yes. Ah, when we reach a place with light, you may recognize her face...or not...//
Shadow snorted slightly. "Unethical and unpractical-- so, if I get in your way, I'll be dead then, correct?" The Sith didn't wait for an answer, merely adjusted her hood before carrying on lightly.
"There's... enough predetorial forms of animals here to keep even a Jedi Master busy-- even with the Force, which we both happen to be deprived of." She shrugged. "It's not a very hospitable planet-- if it were not so dark, I would suggest getting under cover. The main creatures to worry about are the vornskr."
Shadow closed her eyes. "Then there's the ysalamiri... not to mention the insect population. It would almost be a nice planet if there weren't so many cursed predators."
For a Jedi Master, he doesn't seem at all uneasy about me being Sith-- I wonder if he knows or remembers me. Maybe he just is tired... but shouldn't that make him all the more edgy? Darn, these unanswered questions are killing me.
Has he caught onto my allusion?
She unconsiously reached up to cover the scar across her face from the lightsaber accident a while back in the past.
