Share about your youth group here! Some are great, some are terrible, but we want to hear all the same! I don't have time right now to tell about mine because it's so complicated, but I will!

i really like my youth group. i don't know exactly how it would compare to others...we go on really cool trips. there's a mission to Nicaragua next summer but my parents won't let me go...*sniff*
there's some chaos going on now becuase the youth pastor is leaving, so thechurch pastor and some youth leaders are gonna fill in untill they can get another.
and lock-ins are a beautiful thing.

YOUTH GROUP *spazzes out*!!!!! I LOVE youth group. In fact, it's tonight! It's really cool because it's just high schoolers (although, believe me, ther are a whole lot) and the worship is AMAZING!!! I also like it because the youth pastor talks about stuff that we can all relate to and apply to our own lives. It also helps that he has a wonderful sense of humor and is very funny. Twice a year we have camps, Summer and Winter to be specific. Those are life changing and amazing as well.
I am also a Junior high counselor for the Junior high ministry, which is a total blessing is so many ways! THey also have summer and winter camps. I went on the last one as a counselor and had a total blast!
My friends and I also go to a youth night on Sundays, which is really fun as well. Usually we will have some awesome worship, a cool band, then the message. Those are a lot of fun!

Yeah, your youth group sounds a lot like mine.
Mine is done where like all the teens are divided into 4 different teams: red, blue, white, and yellow. Each week we do some sort of an activity where whoever wins gets this week's amount of points. Also, at the end of the year or something, the winning team gets a limo ride somewhere! It's really awesome!
I'm on the blue team, and we won last week. I can't wait for this Sunday night!!

Intersting. Our youth group isn't much, just a group of around 14 kids (which is amazing) who get together and talk, whatever.

That's not so bad... D'you all get along? I finally have enough time on my hands to tell you about mine. We have two youth groups, Junior High, and Senior High. When I moved up to Junior High in 6th grade, it was led by this guy named Jeff. Jeff was okay, but he really favored some kids, and ignored the unpopular ones, like me for example. The elite group got to do things like go to his house and watch movies, while we unpopular geeks... watched, I guess. I had a few friends in 6th grade, not many, but two or three. Then I moved up to 7th grade. That was probably the worst year of my life. My friends decided I wasn;t popular enough for them, so I was dropped like a hot potato. I stopped coming to youth group, and sunday school because the teaching was lame and the people were mean. Suddenly, Jeff left. The youth intern, Chris, was now in charge. He was so much better than Jeff; he included everyone, and actually had read the Bible, and knew how to teach it. Things improved dramatically in 8th grade. I didn't regain my old friends, but I made friends with the underdogs, and we formed our own little circle. Now I am in highschool. A new guy, Sean, took over. He's fine, not bad, but still there is room for improvment. So there's my little story. Hope ye enjoyed it. *grin*

that's so horrible how cliques and popularity end up in a Christian sociality. My YG is trying to prevent that now...it's cool. We have so many WIERD people!

Hmm... In the Junior high, we really don't play favorites... At least, I don't, as a counselor. I try to get to know as many of the girls as I can! But in the high school, we have a group of about 60 or more kids that go street witnessing and go on trips for the crusades, and I sometimes feel like they are favored more than the rest. But now I know that we are all called to serve God in different ways, and just because I am not out pounding the streets doesn't mean that I'm not doing His will in the Junior High.
That's messed up that you had to go through that, Sblomie, especially at church. Church is supposed to be a place we can let our guard down and not have to worry about people being mean or rejecting us for who we are, like they do at school sometimes. I'm glad that you are having a better time now!

Yes...that's why I didn't go to youth groups. Almost everyone was cliquey and terribly mean. I think it's better to have a small homegroup thing, and maybe get together in a big group every now and then. For a youth group to work, the youth need to trust each other and most especially their youth leader. We haven't had one at our church for years because all the youth leaders kept moving away...hmm.

Yeah... there were three of us at Youth Group who were pathetic LotR fanatics. We were listening to track 5 while playing Ping Pong. Suddenly, we all turned on the Ping Pong screaming "DIE, DENETHOR, DIE!"
After that, we decided we needed to throw darts at a printout...
...we aren't right in the head, or something.

My youth group is too big for me to figure out if there is any following whatsoever... I'll tell you what I do know they are all obsessed with, myself included (I am sad to say): Napoleon Dynamite. Don't ask WHY, because I have yet to figure it out myself... I will say one thing, though: Napoleon made our camp sign up video AWESOME!
