Tyrsis shook his head. "You need to stop apologizing so often." He told her, trying to encourage her. "And I know you don't like it when its different but you need to learn to cope, even a little bit."

"you need to learn to cope"
How many times have I heard that line? Dublik gave a frustrated sigh. I don't want to learn to cope, I want things to stay the same! She knew it was immature, pointless. But it was still true--it all seemed to hard for her to deal with.
Why did brother leave me? Why...I need... "I need help!" She choked on words and feelings she wished her twin were there to understand--even as she leaned on Tyrsis shoulder for comfort.

Tyrsis patted her on the back comfortingly. "Its okay." He told her. "I'm here to help, okay? I'm here to make sure you're safe."

Hysterical, tearless sobs shook Dublik's body, but her mind began to reject the situation. Stop it! Don't touch him! He's not brother. He's nothing like brother. Nothing. You're supposed to be helping him, and look what is happening. You are worthless.
I try. She felt herself going limp. I do try!
Of course you do...but what can you really do for him, after all? You are worthless. Why do you think he keeps you here? Do you think it's because he loves you?
"No...no, I suppose not."
You suppose not...! Can't you tell? He keeps you because he is too weak to let you die!
As Dublik pulled away from Tyrsis, she could hear her enemies laughing deep inside of her. "Thank you. I'm ready to go with you, now."

Tyrsis gently place a hand on her forehead. "I'm glad to hear it." He gently wiped some of Dublik's tears from his chest and sighed.
"I'm sorry if I made you cry." He aplogized.

"No...no, nobody makes me cry. I'm sorry..." Dublik struggled with herself a moment, quivering from shame and disgust. Look, you make him miserable...
She followed Tyrsis back to the water. The stranger didn't seem as big a problem now that other worries filled her thoughts. Her mind raced; it was almost soothing, like the rushing water. She smiled grimly.

"Its okay." He whispered. "I'm here, like always. If you want to swim you can, if you don't thats okay. I think I'm going to go talk to Kaklyn for a moment."
((Red, sorry if you've been waiting and haven't spoken up. You can rejoin this conversation ASAP))

<<I'm here now, but wasn't before so it's all goop. Great char, feardaughter.>>
Kaklyn came onto the shore and sat. This...servant of Tyrsis' was very strange...though that was something to be expected from a --former--Shamed One. They talked together while Kaklyn tried not to listen. So maybe another would be going with them...and this Dublik didn't seem the greatest asset. But that was her warrior side talking. Tyrsis was obviously kinder than he looked; she should try to be kinder than she was. Or am I... Strange, deep thoughts. Kaklyn turned to the two emerging from the trees, he bending close to her. She thought that it wasn't like there was a relasionship between them--old ideas shuddered at the thought--but that she needed protection; a lot of it. Kaklyn stayed seated as she said, "Good morning, Dublik. The gods look favorably on this meeting." She tried to catched Tyrsis's eye to see if that was alright. What was it the Shamed had thought about the gods?

Tyrsis shook his head slightly at Kaklyn, he knew Dublik wouldn't like being talked to by the stranger. Out of the corner of his mouth Tyrsis whispered to the now somewhat calm Dublik. "Just reply, thats all, don't panic. Just give an answer and you won't have to talk to her again if you don't want to."

((Thanks bunches, Red! Glad to see you back.))
Dublik suppressed the sudden need to vomit. Her eyes misted over. You promised...you promised I wouldn't have to talk.
Be flexible. You have to learn to cope. Breath...breath...breath... She tried to think about the words, all by themselves. Not the meanings. Not the look.
She shuddered. It was a curse, she thought, to be so sensitive to tone and expression when they had nothing good to tell. And they never did. See? She hates you.
"Good morning." Dublik thought she ought to say something else. But I don't have anthing else to say. She looked down...and then at Tyrsis for guidance. Please don't tell her anything... She shivered.

"That was really good." He told her. "I'm surprised that you responded." He held her hand gently, making sure she knew he was there. "If you want you can go and sit in the shade, you don't have to say anything else, okay?"

"Okay." She sighed a little, and steadied herself before leaving Tyrsis and Kaklyn alone. It wasn't fair, but what else could she do? She collapsed a little way off; closed her eyes and fell asleep, to dream. And hoped the dreams wouldn't be worse than reality.

Tyrsis smiled faintly at his sleeping companion. "I'm sorry about her." He said to Kaklyn. "She's very uncomfortable around strangers, maybe if she'll warm up to you when we're travelling. In the meantime ,however, please don't try speaking to her, especially without me there, it would upset her."
He waded into the water again and he felt stretched, his scars on his body stretching along too. He wet his long hair and smiled again, this time at Kaklyn.

Kaklyn nodded at him. "I think I understand." She lowered her voice, then. "What...did something happen to her?" It was pity she felt now, for the small girl lying in the shade, her skin almost uniform smooth.

Tyrsis looked sadly at the girl he swore to protect, the girl who was now like a sister to him. "She says she was always like that. Its's just that before she had people in her life that controlled that. Her father died and her twin brother disappeared, causing her more emotional damage. I try to replace her brother and father but I fail..." He paused sadly to look at Dublik again. "I fail, even if I love her like my own sister."

Fire. Dublik's dreams were filled with redhot flashes of...something. Fire. She felt herself trembling. I didn't know I was afraid of fire. That made her want to laugh, almost. But only almost. A ring of suffocating flames paralyzed her thought. And there was someone. She couldn't tell who. And there was Tyrsis, lying on a strange stone floor, panting, trembling with pain. What is he doing on the floor? She felt there was something else she should be grasping here. ((Thought I'd just let ya'll talk a while... ))

Kaklyn followed his gaze, feeling more and more kindly toward the girl..but not toward the thought of brining her to Yavin IV. "You seem to do as well as you can. Maybe...maybe she was Shamed in mind as well as body." She hoped, a hope coupled with slight anger, that that wouldn't be taken as an insult. It was a strange thought, one that had come without backing.

Tyrsis, having training in noticing hidden emotions when he became an ambassador, picked up the slight anger behind the comment. It perplexed him slightly. "Yes, she can't live without someone there to control her as well her body rejects and modifications."
"But I'm curious, why is it that you're angry? Is it with me or her?" He asked, still confused by the look glimmer of anger that was behind her eyes.

"No I just..." Frighning he picked that up. But she could see how. "My problem is only with going to Yavin. If you want to go, what'll she be like around Jedi? No asset." Another glance at the girl. "I don't mean to talk about her without her, but..."

"Its okay." He sighed. "You can talk about her to me, if its the truth however. She is very fragile, mentally, so I'll need to keep her close if we go." He came out of the water slowly and sat down by Kaklyn. "Its strange, the warrior I was trained to be was taught to leave the weakest, the shamed, behind. Something inside me made me take her in, to care for her, knowing full well that she wasn't going to get any better soon..." He trailed off, now thinking.
