I love the horses too!! Are Fledge and Jewel in Prince Caspian? That is the only book I haven't gotten around to reading yet... I am ashamed that I do not know, but would someone please enlighten me?
I think it would be cool if Orlando Bloom played ANYONE in the movies!! Viggo Mortenson would be good, too.
I don't like That weird kid with the glasses... what's his name? Peeves: Potty Wee Rotter. either, so you are in good company. If it didn't have all the witchcraft and wizardy in it, I might be interested. I have never even touched one of those books *shudders*.

HI ARAVIS!! (waves) Aravis is actually one of my favorite characters in the whole series. And I don't like HP, either... And I'm Christian, too, which adds a whole new dimension to the Narnia series. The point of the books, I know...

Hello everyone!!!!!!!!!! Trinity,(waves) Fledge is in The Magician Nephew. And Jewel is a unicorn who is in the Last Battle. Shieldzup,(cool name!)those one footed things are called Monopods, and they call themselves Dufflepuds. If you have any other Narnia questions, ask me. I've read all seven of the books, at least five times each. Hhmmm..... I'm trying to think of who could play Miraz. What about the guy who plays Wolverine in X-men? *whats his name?* He did a good job in Van Helsing. No, that would not do. Everyone would be liking old Miraz! *gag, shudders, faint...* NO, that would not do........

Hhhhmmm...... I was thinking, did Aravis go to Aslan's country? The Last Battle did not mention her. It would be awful if my namesake was stuck with Tash! *gag* ASLAN RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TASH SHOULD DYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dufflepuds! For the longest time when I was little I wanted to be a dufflepud! (Don't ask, it's a good chance that you don't want to know.)
All right, for my friends, I must slightly defend HP. Gandalf is a Wizard, correct? And he practices magic, yes? What do you call a female wizard? A witch. I don't agree with all of the parents letting third graders read the books, as they get a little dark towards the fourth and fifth books, but as long as you don't make it your religion, then I have no problem with them. I can usually tell when I'm reading a book that is going to toy with my mind. I get that weird, upset stomache feeling. I only got that feeling when they killed my favorite character in the fifth book. There are some other things that I don't agree with, but if someone likes the books, I don't have a problem. It just gets a little creepy when some little kid with a lightning bolt tatooed on his head comes up and tries to levitate you... that isn't good.
Sorry, that was sort of long, and probably didn't make much sense. I just seem to have an argument for everything. (My dad is one of those people who thinks that since the Bible calls the Devil a dragon in one place, that dragons are all evil. I counter with 'But it also calls him a roaring lion, and I don't see you spasing out when I sketch a lion in my notebook!' Needless to say *sigh* it never works.)
So don't take offense or anything. I'd hate to, erm, hurt anybodies feelings.

All right, now I must amend myself. The kind of magic that Gandalf uses is a little different than Hogwarts magic, as he is a Maia of sorts. So I guess that argument doesn't really work. The last thing that I want is to downplay the lack of God in That weird kid with the glasses... what's his name? Peeves: Potty Wee Rotter., because He will always be my first love.
This isn't ending the way I want it too..... urgh...... sorry about the double post thing, by the way. I just read the first one and was too lazy to go back and edit it.

*claps* Bravo, Witchqueen, bravo!!! I am no HP fan, but that was very good defense you mounted!
Hey, I read where it calls the devil a roaring lion last night in 1 Peter! I think it is in chapter 5.
I read a Tamora Peirce book and I didn't sleep well for two weeks. I always felt sick and stuff, and when I threw the book out, I was all better! But you can understand why I tend to stay away from that stuff, it doesn't settle well with me. That was a really weird experience, though, and kind of scary... For some reason I think I am more sensitive to it, or something.
I shall forgive you for the double posting, as I sometimes do it myself *blushes*. And no feelings of mine were hurt whatsoever!

I understand the book thing.... *shudders* One must be careful what one puts in ones mind...
That happened to me with a Frank Perretti book (why, I don't know). I had to hide it under my bed so that I couldn't see it. 'Twas rather frightening, I must say. Flying slugs *bleh*

*shudders* Those Frank Peretti books scared me, too. I prefer the Narnia books much more. At least Aslan is snuggly...
Agent Vader: Trinity, let go of my arm.
Trinity *lets go*: Oh, right. Oops, got carried away... *goes off to find very large stuffed animal to hug*

Hello everyone!!!!!!!!! I love Frank Peretti's books!!!!!! He is a Christian, and the main characters in his books are Christians too. Would the "flying slugs" be in "The Deadly Curse of Toco-Rey"? That book was kinda weird. My favorite one was, "The Secret of the Desert Stone" Weird.........I read the Bible, Lewis, Tolkien, and Peretti. Hhmm...........weird mix!

Yep, that would be the one. *shudder* Anything with flying slugs is scary in my book.
Did you ever read the other books he wrote? Like the Visitation? That is the bestest most scariest Christian book I have ever read in my life. It was super challenging.
You autta read Tad Williams. He doesn't really have anything to do with any of the other writers, but I just have to tell everyone that, because he rawks. *second best writer in the World, oh yeah!*

I don't remember flying slugs... msut be a different one. but the adult books scared me pretty bad.
I like reading Meg Cabot books, like "The Princess Diaries" and "All American Girl". They are really funny and super relatable too. Except, you know, I am neitehr princess or savior of the president. But if you get past that, they are the best!

*cough* Back on topic... you may discuss books such as Frank Whoever's The Hangman's Curse, and other books like that elsewhere... start a discussion on the topic of christian books if you will, in this board. I actually happened to like the book The Hangmans Curse, actually... not that I like scary things. But I wouldn't want to own it.
Trinity, your title change didn't work, you'll have to change it on the first post.

Okay, I just took the time to read through this entire thread, so now I have some real comments to make. One, MIDDLE-EARTH HAS NOTHING AGAINST DOUBLE POSTING!!! Jeez, read the rules... we don't CARE about double posts!!!!!!! Okay, Admin point made, to the interesting comments of doom. By the way, I am going to suggest that we make another thread on the discussion on That weird kid with the glasses... what's his name? Peeves: Potty Wee Rotter., as that is quite interesting to hear your thoughts on those *coughevilcough* books and movies.
(Suddenly realizes that we are actually discussiong something.. whoa)
You comment on books that give you "weird feelings". I can atest to that... I can pick up a book, flip through it, and get this strangest feeling in the pit of my stomache. I did not get that feeling from The Hangman's Curse, save for in the pieces with... well... the EVIL stuff. The spiders, and such... they didn't bother me. Narnia didn't bother me. When Celebrian rented HP 1 so that we could preview it, after watching it, I was afraid to go to sleep, there was such an evil feel to it... a feel of Darkness, if you know what I mean. When we returned the video, it was gone. My mom's friend left an HP book somewhere, and asked my mom to get it for her to return next time they seen each other... there was a strange feel in the house while it was here-- my little brother's light turned itself on WITHOUT any help once. When we gave it back to her, that was gone. There was just such a feel of Darkness around those books, and movie. I wanted to read the books... I almost still might read them... and yet, a part of my mind, as a Christian, makes me want to stay away from those books... avoid them like anything.
You see now why I have such a thing against HP and friends... they are so evil, in a manner. The difference between LotR is simple. LotR is against evil, and the evil is obvious. In HP, there is less against evil, and it is not obvious who the evil is. It has to do with Witchcraft, and other things I mean to avoid. I might be one of those people you could call 'Too Christian', but I don't care. I've had too many bad feelings from those books... I will avoid them like the plague.
My best friend dislikes Star Wars because of the whole "Force-thing". I understand that in a way... but until she sees HP, and that form of evil, she'll never understand why I feel that the Force is so much safer... so much more clean.
Ooooo.. long post. I had a lot to say on this topic, ehh.
But Narnia does not give that feeling... I'm certain that the movies will be PG, and movies that we all will be able to enjoy... *wants to see Miranda Otto as Aravis, and John Noble as Miraz... Olrando Bloom as the dude in The Silver Chair... Viggo Mortensen as Tiran...*
There... nice long post, hope I didn't lose you!

Exactly! You made the point that I was trying to make, Miss Tarkheena! I'm not very good at making points, you know... sigh.
Star Wars is cool, and the distinction between good and evil is strongly made-- it doesn't bother me to read the "Force stuff"... what does bother me is that some SW fanatics are trying to make Jediness a legal relligon... THAT bothers me... we all know the Force is not real.
Narnia is well writen because it shows the different between right and wrong, and has a good moral to the plotline.
I am going to suggest that we make a thread on the discussion of the difference between these movies, and their level of right and wrong. I will also suggest that a thread on the discussion of random other books is made as well... if not in here, then I'll make another board.
