From Wikipedia, the above.
One might believe that Discworld is a uniquity, but seems that Narnia beat it out for the title of flat world. Perhaps there's no turtles carrying it about, but it seems to me that C.S. Lewis beat Terry Pratchett to creating a world with a ledge.
Hmm...

To assist, here is an almost-comprehensive diagram, as I was a bit confustulated myself at this time of day. Although Pratchett makes a huge deal out of the fact that Discworld is flat...Lewis said it first, indubitably. But neither of them, I think, could possibly deny the influence of the ignorance that remained a part of the European culture for so many hundreds of years, as well as other societies...

Oh, wow, that's a horrible drawing... snrk. (grins) But, yes, it was all back in history... woo! The earliest references to a round earth have to have been in the Bible...

Yes but thou hast forgotten the discworld is supported on A'tuin the turtle who rides on four elephants. Terry himself said that Discworld is a parallel of earth (and much of it's mythos modern and aincent). Lookie at this!! (i figured it'd be appropriat for this topic ^_^)

But in Narnia, as spoken of in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the ocean falls up off the edge.

Neither CS Lewis nor Terry Pratchett created the idea. Old cultures, most significantly the Greeks and Romans, each believed the world was flat, and I think there was actually a religion that believed it was carried on a turtle, and one that it was carried on elephants.

That's bothersome. But makes sense...

There are some pretty weird cultures out there... In the immortal words of Wash from Firefly, "Some people like juggling geese!!"
Everyone should watch Firefly and Serenity.
