Star Wars Fanfiction Contest

Hey, I'm starting a new contest. It has been OKed by Jandalf the Orange and Shadow. I guess we may have to wait for Eowyn to Ok it...

Anyway, the basic idea is to write a Star Wars fanfiction story with a Halloween theme ... but it should be a FUNNY story!

It's OK if the character gets scared ... lots of things can be scary if you dont know what it is. Example: a chipmunk is making loud sounds in dry leaves. If its DARK out your imagination can easily think the harmless chipmunk is something scary, thus adding scary fun to the story.

You can also add scary stuff (If you want to) by using ATHMOSPHERE. This is where you use descriptive words in the setting. Example: the bare trees were like boney hands reaching towards the sky.

THE RULES:

1. The story must be COMPLETE.

2. It must have STAR WARS characters in it (EP 1, 2, 4, 5 or 6). You may mix characters from the prequels with the originals if you wish.

3. The story must be rated PG!

4. NO swear words! If you use profanity you will be disqualified.

5. The story must make SENSE. It must have a solid beginning, middle and end.

6. It must follow an Autumn or Halloween theme.

7. Anyone can enter.

8. Nothing EVIL. That means no witches, demons, things of that nature. Keep it FUN!

9. Please NO characters from LotR, Matrix or that pirate movie with Jack Sparrow. Keep it Star Wars.

JUDGING:
Entries will be judged on how well they follow the theme and overall story quality.

Winners will receive a Star Wars related prize that I'll design on my computer and you can display on your webpage (if you have one). If I receive enough entries, I'll have a First, Second and Third place prize.

Some Ideas for possible stories

Did Obi ever take Ani trick-or-treating (or the Coruscant version of it)

What would 3PO do in a haunted house?

What simple prank could scare a tough guy like Han?

What SW character will carve a pumpkin?

BE CREATIVE!!

Just to let you know, Jandalf and or Shadow's word on anything is as good as mine. (rolls eyes) Even if they aren't me, Jandalf's my master, and one of my most trusted G-Mods-- not to mention that we had to have been cloned from the same brain cells, and Shadow's a... reality friend, in a way. She knows what I do and don't like. So, if you get their approval, it should be okay with me.

Now... I'll okay this... as long as your rules are followed to the letter, I'm okay with it. Especially on the no evil in it. *shudders* One comment-- no crossovers, HOWEVER you could have a character dressed up as a LotR character, or whatnot, eh?

Well, time to see what I can do with this idea...

Yes, of course you can have SW characters dress up as LOTR characters! Or even dress them up as vampires or werewolves or whatever. I mean, costumes IS a part of Halloween. I know in most movies vampires are evil, but I see nothing wrong with a FUNNY light-hearted vampire story, especially if its just a costume. In the first chapter of "Pranks" I had Ani dress like a vampire and Obi as a werewolf. Certainly nothing evil there....

And if you put YODA in a costume .. now THAT could be very hilarious. I mean, Yoda is always so serious.....!!!



So if you want to use vampires or werewolves in a funny way, go ahead. There are all sort of crazy things one could think up and I know you guys are very, very experienced at thinking up crazy things.

Hmmmm ... you DO know vampires hate garlic, right? And I know you got that garlic story....

Just no crazed maniacs with big knives or axes. That's EVIL too.... thought I should point that out.

Just try to keep some common sense in the story, OK? I know you guys love Paint Wars and I'm sure you howled with laughter at it, but I found parts of it confusing. Like when the Eye killed Mace and a short time later he was mysteriously alive again ... so the Eye killed him again. I know its *supposed* to be funny, but I fail to understand HOW he magically came back to life. So please avoid a situation like that. That's what I mean when I say it should "make sense".

By the way, I have more ideas for these types of contests SOOOO I'll probably hold one each month! OK? Next month I'll post the contest sooner so you'll have more time to think up a story and write it...

Heh. Paint Wars was never meant to make sense... but I think Episode II was the worst of the bunch. That was the one in which we killed Mace... though I have no clue why, or how he came back to life... it's been too long since I've read that story. The sequel is a lot more... well, it makes more sense, even though it's a Mary Sue, AU, mirror worldy thingy... whatever. You made a comment in a review about a mirror world... oddly enough, though you probably didn't mean it, you were right. The sequel deals with the Mirror Worlds, and how the Paint Wars characters accidently started cracking that mirror... it's... very angsty later on. (rolls eyes)

Anyhow, for a contest like this I wouldn't be co-writing, and PW was a co-wrote story with Jandalf. Thus... well, when I'm writing on my own, though insane, my stories USUALLY make sense. NOW, anyhow...

And I know vampires hate garlic... heeheehee... can I use Tiana in this story? I mean, can I use my OC characters? The story would make some sense, it's just I like using my own people in a story...

Yes, I suppose you can use your own characters ... just as long as you make it clear from the beginning who your character is.

The Mirror Universe thing I got from Star Trek. And no, I wasn't joking. I was thinking of how Kirk switched places with his counterpart in the Mirror Universe where Starfleet was a nasty Empire... A person got to be Captain by murdering his commanders to go up in rank. Needless to say, Kirk didnt like it there.... But he did say he liked the bearded Mr Spock better. Well, not REALLY. See ... now you got me talking about Star Trek!

Space. The Final Fronteir. These are the voages of the Starship Enterprise. Her missio to seek out strange new worlds, new life and civilazations, to boldly go where no man has gone before! (insert theme music)

Good ol Captain Kirk.

Hmmm.... you better not get me started on Xena!

Did I mention THEY had a Mirror Universe, too? Yep! Of course, they had the same writers from Trek... Yep! The nasty Soverign. You wouldn't want to meet him. Nope. BAD guy. Looks just like Hercules.... Good ol Herc trapped him between worlds tho... yep.

Yeah...as everyone's probably guessed already, I think this is a great idea. Perhaps we should hold a Christmas one after this one's finished. I've got a few challenge ideas...

Yes, well, there probably WILL be a Christmas one but if you check your calendar next month is November. Christmas is in December!

But you can either write Christmas fics now and save them for December OR write the ideas down so you dont forget them.

I'm having soooooo much fun with my plot bunny! I'm posting my L/V Halloween story on the L/V group and I got them all going! lol They want to know what will happen next. Creepy temples are gooooooood! lol

(grins) Yup. I used a couple of normal HB pencils, to answer your question. One was a mechanical for detail, and one was a normal one for the hair. I HATE using mechanical pencils to draw hair...it takes forever and looks like crap. Heh. Glad you found the couch!

I'll have to revisit the L/V site and forums...it's been a while.

Well, none of my stories are on the L/V website. That site hasn't been updated since spring, I think. And I dont know about any L/V forum.

I was referring to the Yahoo group. COME JOIN the group! You can read all my insane stories (Penpals, Conversation with Vader and the new Halloween one "The Torment of Tantalus") right in your mailbox.

The L/V group had a chat today but I missed it do to my cherry tree. sigh. Now I cant bake pies...

FIRST PLACE with Emperor Palpatine (spooky looking)

SECOND PLACE with Anakin (Also a bit spooky but not as spooky as Palpy above)

THIRD PLACE with Yoda (not spooky at all)

My progress is not particularally good, but I'm WORKING on it! REALLY, I AM!

There is a L/V forum... (mutters) I didn't bookmark it when I ran into it. Lazy person that I am, I refuse to bookmark anything that isn't active, or that I'll probably never return to... so... yeah. (And I refuse to account how I ran into that forum... I run into SO many, and with such weird methods... ergh.)

And I don't know anything about mailing lists!

OOOHHH! I remember the L/V forum NOW! It belongs to the L/V group at Yahoo but no one on the group ever uses it! People just post their messages and stories to the group... So the forum really is dead. There was some talk about reviving it a few months back but that never took off.

Its a group on Yahoo and people post lots of stories there. Hope this explains it. MOST of the stories are PG. There mat be an OCCASION PG-13, but I havent seen any that merit a PG-13 rating. Anything higher is against the group rules. All the fics are very well written. Most are AU.

Hope to learn more about Palpy in your closet, too... hee-hee. Maybe you should give him some of that pink pepsi with garlic taste I read about on the main page of this site... where the sentences change.

Did Ani ever get OFF the ceiling where he was duct-taped? lol Some Jedi ... allowing himself to be duct-taped to a ceiling! (shakes head)

Maybe his garlic breath will melt the tape. I'd like to see the look on Obi's face IF Ani comes home with melted duct-taped glued all over his clothes.

Well, I have a really good idea for a fanfic for this one but

A) It's not funny

B) I have no clue whether or not anyone else is doing it.

C) Maybe I should just ask right now: what time is everyone else's... mine's a very AU Ani/Obi one... *evil grin* I'll probably be strangled for it if I do write it... because it's very AU, and very on my typical angsty track...

D) That's why I may not do it-- it's not funny at all. Unless you hate Obi-Wan, Yoda, etc...

Well, I think you should go for it!

I just said it should be funny to avoid the "evil" stuff of Halloween, as Shadow said you hate that part of the holiday. But its really up to you if you write anything or not....

SHE (Shadow), of all people, should know that something I write wouldn't be evil... I mean, sheesh, she is my shadow, and all that... she knows me as well as Jandalf. (to Shadow: Okay, okay, so the Shadow thing gets annoying, but you started it...) It's not on the evil side of things. Oh NO... well... sort of... but in a non-THAT-kind of way. If you know what I mean. *shudders* It's angsty/dramay... well, I'll let you see for yourself. Not a typical plot, that's for certain...
