Ok I went and read it. I would like to say that the difference between LotR, Cronicles of Narnia (I have read them) and HP is the level of Magic.
Explaination: In Lotr and CoN, The 'wizard' or 'witch' is just said to have done *insert random hocus pokus here*. In HP They specifically state the incantations and such.
I would also like to point out this... Aslan himself is a depiction of God's Holy power. And Queen Jadis *the white witch* is a symbol of Satan and his power.
LotR: The Istari wizards however use technological type of 'powers' to do their thing. "Saruman has a mind made of metal and gears" says Treebeard in TTT m And in the BOOK version of LotR TTT it seems to me in Helms Deep (The chapter) That it is not some thing created by magic but of tecnological advancement.
In HP (I asked my friends who HAVE read them and my mom who read one) There are actual incantations and spells.
I would also like to point out that I do work in a library putting away books. *It's called paging if you want to know my job title* I have seen quite a few books on how to do wican/witchcraft. I have looked in them. They do contain 'information'. So witchcraft is an actual thing in this dimention.
Ok I put my cents worth in.

If you wish to continue discussing HP vs LotR, do that in the Comparations forum thinger. Or create a thread about that in here.
This is a thread for 'The Best Tale in the World', rememeber?
Just being the moderator. Sigh. And yeah, I have seen some of those books. I won't touch them. They are evil.

I am a MAJOR book fan. Read it for the first time when I was 8. I know arn't I amazing. Have read it at least once every year since. I think my final count is 23 times FOTR, 21 time TTT, and get this I read this one way too much 55 times. I read them through ENTIRELY once every year and then randomly, when ever i feel like it. I am a speed reader though...so...

Some of my best friends are books. I'm reading The Hobbit, and I think it's fantastic. I read so many different kinds of books. I'm reading a Star Wars book called Star by Star, and I'm also starting on FOTR.

Hey, Van, You're just like Christopher Lee. He reads LotR every year too. Though that MAY have something to do with the fact that he met Tolkien personnaly...He was supposed to play Gandalf...

I wish I could have met Tolkien. I did a lot of research on him, and he was an incredible man, as well as an incredible writer. Sometimes research papers ruin people for you, but the one I did on Tolkien made me adore him more, if possible. It was supposed to be seven pages total. I had seven pages half way through it...
