Anyone remember this?
A lot of months ago, we had finally narrowed down our potential domain names. I glanced back into the threads, and these were the favorites, barring orderoftheparadox, which is fun, but would involve changing our site name. Of course, it's still an option, I guess...
Let's sum it up. It still might not happen, but my mom (Celebrian) is in favor of a domain because she'd like to have a bit of webspace, and I want some webspace to host a potential webcomic/art site. If I was to waste my time making one of those, why not have at the very least a page for MEI? A pretty, shiny homepage? Like Barrowdowns has!
Since I'm Canadian, it'll cost me around 128 dollars to buy us hosting, depending on the current value of our dollar... it's 4 dollars a month with hostmonster.com (which is my personal favorite of the sites I've looked at for value, though it's unfortunately not Canadian), plus 7% GST if you get the two year plan... presuming my dollar's worth about 75 cents... 128 dollars. Considering my DEAR MEMBERS WOULD PROBABLY LOVE TO SUPPORT THE SITE THEY'VE WASTED TWO YEARS OF THEIR LIFE ON...

Okay, I'll be honest. If we really wanted a domain name RIGHT THIS MOMENT, Jandalf and I could probably manage to pull it off, only she wouldn't be eating for a month, and I would be doing chores steadily for three months with no chocolate to fund my efforts. And you guys all love us, right? You do realize that if twelve of you people gave us ten dollars each, we'd have enough for hosting. But we're not going to ask you for money. Ew. That's just cruel. I hate sites that ask for money without offering anything in return.
Which is why we're going to offer you guys shirts or whatever other merchandise we can make from cafepress.com if we can figure out how to work that, and art! Laa! Well. At least, I am. I haven't managed to lynch any of the other admins into the possibility yet. I mean, Celebrian and Jandalf agreed on the shirt-making idea.
But, anyway, this will, if it works out, cover us for two years. I'm willing to offer my services as a l337 artist and sell you guys a pretty, shiny, highish quality printout of an artisticly valuable picture on photopaper or a watercolor/pencil picture, which I will send to you in exchange for money to fund MEI's domain name. A couple people (no names) have said they would buy shirts if we offered them, and at least one person has said they would like to help fund the site, so if that was ten dollars each, there's already 30 dollars! Imaginary money, of course. (sighs)
But, anyway, pick your domain name, and post and give us your opinions on what you'd pay money for to help support MEI? An autographed photograph of Celebrian? Come ON... lol. Mommy and I can probably come up with 50 to 70 dollars if we have to, but some member help would be lovely.
