Eowyn: I mailed you the prize for Mount St Helens. Did you get it? And your BOTH right, although Jandalf spelled it right! The so called "mountain thing" in the middle is the famous Sydney Opera House. Guess I have to design a new prize for Eowyn. Well, I'll put up ANOTHER postcard! MAHAHAHAHA! Let's see what I have ready for you... For this one you must name the BUILDING and tell me WHERE it is (city and country). And yes, I figured someone would recognize the Opera House.... ~ Smenzer

I can't say anything to disregard Thorongil's answer, so... yep.

Your stone city seems almost Greek to me, by the style... but I can't chance a name for it yet. And the night city... I can't name the building, but I think it might be in Venice somewhere...

Oooo. The one in the cliff...it looks exactly like the set they used in Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. (thinks hard) Middle-east, somewhere, if I'm not mistaken...
I REMEMBER!!! It's in the country Jordan. Petra, right?

WAY TO GO JANDALF!!!!!!!!!!!! It IS Petra!! I really didn't think anyone was going to guess it and you did! And yes, it IS in the country of Jordan. I watched a video on Petra a few weeks ago, hence the idea of putting it here. So now I owe you TWO prizes! It may take a bit to design the new ones. I was planning on doing that today but Darth Real Life stopped me. To be more exact, the strong gusts of wind knocked the cherry tree in my front yard down!! Stupid wind!! This is the second tree in my neighborhood the wind knocked down within a year! So I was stuck outside almost all day cutting it up..... Too bad wasn't around with his double lightsaber! Could have used it... lol And THORONGIL WINS again!!! Yes, thats the Chrysler building in New York City! Isn't it pretty? Its one of my favorites. I'll try to get your prizes made and mailed tomorrow! Stupid wind! ~ Smenzer

I thought I'd tell you a few things about Petra. Petra is in ancient city in Jordan (thats the Middle East). The buildings are actually carved out of the surrounding rock you see on the one photograph. All carved by hand. It took a looooong time. Eowyn, you thought it looked a bit Greek, right? Well, that's because the architects of Petra borrowed designs from both the Greeks and the Egyptians. The city was built and thriving while the Egyptian and Greek civilazations were going strong. It was later taken over by the Romans. Mainly Petra was a trading city located way out in the harsh desert. To reach it, you must walk through the narrow rock crevice you see on the first photo. The city was destroyed by an earthquake and was 'lost' for a very, very long time. Hope this didnt bore anyone.

Heh. Not at all. I actually love history lessons. But Éowyn was right about it looking Greek. Generally one can tell Greek architecture from Roman by the pillar designs, and the fact that the Greeks generally did pillars with slabs on top, whereas the Romans came up with the arch.
Stang...I have no idea what that building is. All I know is, it's in Texas somewhere. Heh.

Yes, Jandalf, it IS in Texas! I'll give you a few clues to help you guess the name.
1. A war or battle took place there.
2. There is a famous or popular saying that goes "Remember the ___". The name of the building goes in the blank.
3. The name of the city its in is "__ ___". That is, its TWO WORDS. The second word is longer than the first. I guess you could say its a Spanish sounding name. The second word is a man's name. The first word is 3 letters.
The building was actually in that one movie. It was a comedy where a female FBI Agent intered a beauty pagent, like MISS USA or whatever. I forget the movie's name though.... Oh! I think it was called "MIss Congeniality".. not sure if its spelled right though...
Hope this helps!
You seem to be enjoying these contests.

(uncertainly) As in "remember the Alamo"? I think that's a saying. But I could be mistaken. Is it in San Antonio?

YES!!! Its the Alamo! And yes, its in San Antonio! hee-hee. I have several postcards of the Alamo and if I remember correctly, the building started out originally as a Native American structure but was latter taken over by the white man, who added onto it.
I'll mail you a prize soon!
Today I received 3 postcards from the P. R. of China. Its interesting to note that both sides of the envelope were addressed to me (with stamps on both sides, too). They were of China's largest waterfall. My swapper said its the third largest in the world and the largest in Asia. The waterfalls name, however, was in Chinese calligraphy so I have no idea what its called in English.
I'll try to get another card up VERY soon! Sorry I wasnt here yesterday but some stuff came up.
