I agree! Redwall=awesomness. Though Jacques has been, in the more recent ones, using the same plot over and over again, and it's gonna be the same for the newest one, and this is annoying me. Favs: Martin the Warrior, Outcast of Redwall (Sunflash is awesome), Taggerung...there's more.

Aw, I loved Martin the Warrior. Those were the classics... *sigh* Jaques and Terry Brooks have the same problem with character recycling... *shakes head*
I'm reading these books by a guy named Jim Butcher, who, all in all is a pretty good author. They're a little weird though, written in first person, which is impressive in itself. Yeah...

Had a friend who did, and he annoyed the crap out of the rest of us with his 'amazing Halo knowledge'. Heh. So, needless to say, I'll probably never read them, because I was annoyed by a now-freshman a year and a half ago.
I'm book-shallow.
Anybody read Robbin Hobb? Really good stuff...

Duncariel, did you get my PM about Harry Dresden? I was rather interested in the potential of that series. Right now I'm reading an old fantasy trilogy called The Time Master, which is really well written but I keep getting annoying because the characters do stupid things...basically their very realistic, and that means I get to worrying about them. That and SW: MedStar II.

Redwall is good, tho plenty of recycled plots. Medstars are good - some of the better SW novels.
Anyone else read Tamora Pierce? (Fantasy/historical/action) Or Cynthia Voigt? (Modern realistic fic) Or the Dragonriders set? (Sci fi) Or Orson Scott Card? (Sci Fi )

Pierce wrote Protector of the Small and some fantasy about girls with element powers, right? I read those in middle school. Card is awesome--amin mela Ender's Game. I have also a book he wrote about writing sf. You mean Pern dragonriders?

Yeah Dragonrider of Pern. Anne McCaffery. I'm not a fan but my dad likes her stuff. I just read a bok called the Naming and it was really good. If you like LOTR you might like this seriously. I hate it when people equate things with Tolkien's work but this one was really epic stuff. Very good.

Yes, the Pern Dragonriders. VERY good . Yay, another Tamora fan! She is the nicest person, and a really great author. And an Orson fan too! Wow! How many in the Ender set have you read, Cy?
Also for Tolkien people, check of Patricia McKillip's The Riddle Master Trilogy - I couldn't put it down.

Oh, yes, Orson Scott Card is good...I haven't read the whole Ender series (just the first one, in fact... *shame*), but I did end up reading his historical fiction on Sarah (as in Abraham's wife). Very, very good.

I just read a book called 'Plob', and it is BRILLIANT. Get it if it comes out in America, it's by an unknown English author so it might not get there for a while. But it's fantastic - it's basically a parody of all those quest stories out there, but you still care a lot about the characters. Plot: The world is in danger from a crazy plumber called Bill, and the only people who can stop him are a wizard called Smegly, his apprentice Plob (Reetworthy Plob - Reetworthy Plob the Third), Dreenee the psychotic waitress, Horgy the accountant, and the local Cabbie. But they get help from a street-talking trogre called Biggest, some dwarves and an annoying self-righteous elf called Legles.

Hey I read Sarah too...wierd. Those are usually skipped over by the SF crowd. I read the first two Ender books. The second one is very good, rather Dune-ish; he says he thought of that one first. The third is...needing to be found. Pierce really annoyed me a little. She's too...feminist? I don't know if that's the word. Sueish. And McCaffery talks to much.

Guys, if you see the book "The Seeker" out somewheres by...um...Margaret Buffie? I think that was her name. Don't read it! Ack! Sue-alert!
Heh...I preview some books when they run through the lines at work, you see...but there was this other one that came out recently called "The Eagle" by Jack Whyte. It's about Lancelot (called Clothar in the book), and though I'm only starting it, it's been a really good read thus far... Also, there's the book "Confessions of an Innocent Man" that came out on the first of November. It's a true story about a guy who was stuck in a Saudi prison for...two years, was it? Incredible story and very well written, but definitely not recommended for those who don't want to go anywhere near graphic scenes...

Question: What did Cynthia Voight write? Because she sounds SO familiar!
And anything by Nancy Farmer is good. I have the "Sea of Trolls" and just finished "House of the Scorpion". She's a really good writer and I like her stories.
